GW2: it’s like DAoC, but for the WoW crowd.
Down state does nothing but allow the side with more players to win. You could have half the numbers and be twice as skilled, but you can never beat the rally cycle. WvW should reward strategy and skill … not how many people you can get to follow you.
Maybe allow reviving to be faster -or- grant a % boost to hit points while in WvW … but either way … down state does nothing but take away from the WvW experience.

Just to make it clear, I am asking for a seperate wvw ruleset that would remove down state … not from the game overall.
My guild and I usually take on groups bigger than us. We incorporate the down state VERY heavily into our strategies. We have one tankier person tasked with finishing downed players asap, and almost everyone tasked with reviving down teammates. Taking it away would just take away depth and possible strategies from the current game.
There is far more upfront strategy when death means something … right now down state gives too many outs to people that were outplayed. Especially when they can just kill some mob and get a free rally … or where killing one of our smaller group can rally multiple of the far larger group at a time.
They already realized that down state was hampering sPvP where it is only 5v5 or 8v8 … try 10 vs 20 and it is far, FAR worse.
IMHO, you didn’t beat or out-play anyone unless you have their badge in inventory. It’s more bothersome when some classes have “immortality” level downed skills; eg. ele can kill from ranged and if downed, easily move themselves back for a safe rally. Others are just stuck where they lie.
I don’t mind the downed state, I think it adds a whole other aspect to intensify the combat. Things get pretty intense when your squad is getting face rolled and going down left and right, my guild and I like to coordinate thieves and mesmers to get up our downed allies and keep the battle going.
Removing the rallying might be an option, but the downed state should stay.

Think you are very confused … eles have a 1 second cast attack that deals as much damage as thieves 1/4 second ranged attack.
As for outplaying … if we out maneuver double our numbers, and get them all down only to be beat by the rally system then how isn’t that outplayed? Sounds like you just want the zerg to win to go on.

There are many skills and traits that work with reviving and restoring downed players. Down State is facet of life in all form of GW2. It is a mechanic that would hurt the game if removed.
I can’t get behind this. I would love there to be something that disadvantages the zerg but killing downed isn’t it. I would like to see the downed states somehow more equally useful. Ranger is pretty nichey.
