Lately these past couple of months, I’ve noticed that most people in this game just grind the same events over and over rather than wanting to explore and doing different events, because grinding events is seen to be much more efficient way to get rewards.
As a person that just likes to play for fun and do different events, I find this terrible, since most people would just stick to the same event chain over and over, while leaving the other events just plain idle. This case appears to be most obvious in places like Cursed Shore, in which people would just stick to farming a couple waypoints, or farming Temple events, instead of doing the other ton of events in the map.
While grinding is common in MMO’s, Guild Wars 2 isn’t meant to be like any other MMO, and I believe Anet should change this, because this basically goes against Anet’s gameplay philosophy of creating a non-grindy game.
If Anet could just create more incentives for people to do different dynamic events, I think it would bump this game’s fun level dramatically. There are many ways to create incentives for players to do different events, such as giving a buff that increases mf or stats for each different event completed. Anet could also add achievements for doing events, or apply diminished returns on doing the same event again, so people go and do a different one.
With a game with so many dynamic events, and many people probably only experiencing less than 50% of it, I think it would be a real waste if Anet decided not to do this. So please Anet, if you’re reading this, please apply some incentives for people to do different events. Such simple changes could go a long way in making this game much better than it already is.
