Hi there, I would like to propose something for making it easier for non-crafters to get ascended gear.

We have at least two currencies that have not been updated since release, tokens and karma.

We also have a few ascended materials that have little to no use, Vials, Globs and Shards of Mists Essence.

And finally we have something that costs 500 Fractal Relics called Gift of Ascension.

And by now I think all the readers may have found out where I’m trying to go.

What if you combine all of this and create new Mystic Forge recipe that allow players to upgrade their exotic items to ascended.

This could be done in a similar way to what we have for legendaries, requiring more gifts and materials for more complex recipes, and it will probably help getting people out of those champion farms and bring them back to do dungeons and fractals.

That would be kinda ridiculous, the Ascended gear are a pretty obvious sink for overabundant crafting materials.

In that regard, Karma was already hit pretty heavily with the change to the daily and monthly reward.

Also, what you’re suggesting wouldn’t really be any better. While it would mean that there’s a new way to get Ascended, it would only affect a small portion of the playerbase. I don’t do dungeons, so I have no tokens. I have <100 Fractal Relics. Basically, your suggestion favors dungeon runners enormously. And considering that running CoF P1 was the best way to make money for a pretty long period of time, I would think that the average dungeon crawler is wealthier than the average player. No need to give them any freebies.

So what are you going to do when WvW players come knocking and start demanding Ascended weapons for Badges of Honor?

And honestly, what’s this about “non-crafter”? There’s such a thing as a crafter? I can understand if some people don’t craft in a game, when you can buy pretty much everything. But I seriously doubt that the opposite, people that craft everything they use exist. At best, there are people who make ends meet by crafting stuff for profit. Hell, I have Jeweler, Armorsmith and Weaponsmith 400 on my Warrior, but that doesn’t really mean I like crafting. I just like to cover that option in case something cool emerges.
