Ok hear me out on this one.

I myself being a human, really like some of the armors from other Cultures, (Preferably being the Norns.) But since I’m a human I cannot get these armors/skins for such reason.

I imagine there’s a lot of players who wish they could have Sylvari or Norn, Charr armor etc on a different race.

That’s why I came up with, Cultural Appreciation Week!

Basically make it like a little event that lasts for a week, maybe once or twice a year, that would allow ANY race to purchase any other races cultural armor sets, so everyone can enjoy the nice sets that were made in this game.

Each day can be a different races appreciation day, and towards the end have a ceremony honoring all races at once, allowing everyone to purchase any armor set they want on that day!

Tell me what you guys think and maybe if I get enough backers, A-net will consider it! =D

I don’t know… the cultural armors is one of few things to differentiate the races. The very point is to be unique to the race. I am sorry, but I don’t really want to support this although I can understand the motive.

The last time people did equip other races cultural armors, you got an army of naked people running around because the model doesn’t exist.

Well that’s why they’d edited it to fit on other races.

I think a charr would look kinda silly in asura clothes…. but I don’t really know, it would take away some uniqueness of races I think

I’d like to see more variations in cultural armor, and maybe just a little price reduction in tier 3 considering the quality of the item is not exactly amazing [they are rare after all]. E.g. My Norn follows the Raven but the tier 3 cultural armor is Wolfborn, wheres the variations for Raven, Bear and Snow leopard, same with the Asuran armor it would be cool to see a variation for each college: Synergetics, Dynamic, Statics.

Although I was extremely disappointed that the only good Medium armor for my female Thief is Tier 3 Human Cultural, and my Thief can’t get it because she is a Sylvari, I can’t agree with this.

I’d rather ArenaNet just add more cool and diverse armor sets to the game.

While I would love to see events relating to the different cultures…

I have 6/6 T3 Norn armor and I would be pissed to see some asura wearing it.

I really would like to have the fur neck shoulder plates that the Norn has so, that’s one of the main reason I like the Norn Cultural.

I would much rather them fix the numerous clipping issues with a cultures own armor then try to hastily put it together on other cultures.

Besides they don’t HAVE to have it look EXACTLY alike. If they want to they can add small alterations to the Cultural armor depending on the race you are, so it’s not an exact cultural piece so other people don’t feel jipped.

I can get a gold an hour easily just doing events, People who farm can get up to 3g an hour if they try. Stop trying to get price nerfs for everything thats out of your reach and work for it like everybody else (Yes, I remember your name from the precursor threads, I guess you got your wish). T3 cultural is the only armor skin people actually have to work for and I enjoyed working towards mine.

I think you are missing the whole point of my argument , or maybe of the thread itself.

Im not saying they should lower the price , actually i did not say even ONCE in my replies they should.

What im saying is , this whole new holyday week would only benefit the rich, because they are the ones who can pay 119g for one set of armor.

This is not me telling them to lower the price , this is me saying my opinion is that they should not implement entire events for just a few people to take part.

I think it’s a good idea. they can drop the price of cultural armours for one week, and edit it to be available too all races. At the end of the week all the cultural armours that were bought cheap get returned. The whole thing is purely based on aesthetics..

Well I would wanna keep the armor that I bought, not have it returned. Unless you mean the price just returns. I mainly would want it for skin purposes.

What he is saying is that , they would have like halloween craft weapons 2 versions, one that got a time duration , till the end of the event , another that will cost the normal price that lasts forever.

And yes im against a holyday that only a very small part of the game population can really get anything from. True , they could make the armor cheaper , but from 119g , well they would need to go down a lot. And that would make people that got for a normal price get really mad also.

Think only solution i can see , is to make all other races armor cheap , and to keep each race original the usual price. This way everyone would be able to get the other races armor , but would still need to work for their own, like right now.

Heh honestly , i also dont see much sense to it. But was my only idea to turn this in a event most will rage for getting nothing from , on something people get something.

Not gonna go over it dropping from special events and such , cause that would not really be fair to people that got it for the normal price in my opinion.

Cultural armors should be specific race – bound. That’s just another thing that makes every race special.

No one wants to see a circus instead of a game, where everyone is running around not having a single thing alike. We will lose our “special” feeling about playing our race.

Add different mounts and this will be an end to all gamestory content. It will be just a freaking parade of who-knows-what.

Even with the same armor on I really doubt you would confuse an asura for a charr or human :P. On defining the player they really need to work on class specific armor, if you goto Lion’s Arch you can’t look at any Light armor class and instantly know what profession they are, I like the armors we have don’t get me wrong but would equally like to see armors that differentiate between the classes as well.

I still think there still needs to be more cultural diffusion with the armor between races. It’d be pretty sweet imo, that way it wouldn’t be a complete replica of the original and won’t piss people off.

Still I think the Cultural Appreciation thing should also go on, because it’d be cool to learn more about the other races, and within the event, there should be a special type of event in each of the races lands, giving all types of new loot or some rares. Give it a mini-story and such too with it.

I like that cultural armor is unique to each race. I would wish however it did not cost so much. Most money I have had in the game at one time is 10g. 119g for armor that is not even exotic is crazy in my opinion. I love some of the cultural armors but I will not buy it for that reason. can get armor with better stats from TP for a LOT less money.

The idea of a " cultural appreciation week" is a good one .the idea of cultural armor for all races is not . Lets keep Race unique things just that.

I think a better solution would be for each race to have a single additional Cultural armour set (per weight) for other races added to the game. It reflects the peace and unity between the races, and offers other races a Norn themed (for example) armour set, but keeps the current Cultural armour unique to that specific race.

I see nothing wrong with this, and think it would be cool if it were implemented later on, though I don’t see it as a priority.

Cultural armors are one of only a few things that give races any real identity. Stuff like weapons are already anything goes, its nice to have a few armor sets as unique to each race.

Some of the cultural armors flat-out wouldn’t work for other races. Charr armor is built specifically for the Charr body with stuff like a tail covering, holes for the horns, ect, it would require major modification to fit other races. Sylvari armor would make no sense on other races because the idea is that the Sylvari actually “grow” the armor themselves, and how would a human grow a set of armor?

One major problem with this notion:

One of the main reasons people have to play another race is the Culture Armor sets. It is a replay mechanic that Anet added.

Now where some people will not roll a charr just to buy a culture armor set a lot of people will

I agree with zeefa. I don’t wana share my norn wolf armour with any of you Asurans. Plus we have so little to really seperate the races already. I’m inclinded to disagree.

However, I would like to have more town clothing options.
