Cultural Armor for Karma
+1
I am not entirely sure why they made the armor gold only and the weapons karma only, it seems a bit defunct to me, but I guess they were expecting you to be able to obtain both in a fairly similar time frame. With the scarce nature of gold, outside getting extremely lucky or flat out exploiting the game, it is very hard to come by. Where as karma is much easier to obtain, which in turn makes it much harder to obtain the armor vs the weapons.

Agreed, cultural armor, especially tier 3, seems impossible to get. And very much not worth it, when other exotic armors cost much much less.
Make it karma, or make it as cheap as the order armors in gold. Or both, make 2 sections to the cultural store, one to pay gold and one to pay karma.
i agree because the cultural armour is way too expensive. i believe its more than $500 dollars in real money for the tier 3 human armour

This would be pretty unfair to those who worked hard on getting that 120g. I’ve spent nearly 2 months saving and I’m only at 110g atm.
I’d be happy w/ karma, since I would be able to buy icy runestones or something with my gold instead – but I know I’d be furious if this happened after a purchase.
dude, i’m having trouble saving up money, karma on the other hand i dont need to spent it.

Scarce nature of money?
People are buying legendary precursors for upward of 300G, there’s certainly no shortage of money in the game.
Don’t mistake you being poor for everyone being poor.
You don’t need to spend real money on gems or spend hours grinding, just make a few good investments on the tradepost.
For example, the mad moon sheild was about 10 gold at the start of the Halloween event, now it’s about 25 gold.
If you had bought a coupel of those when they were cheap, you would have tonnes of gold now. Also, since they can’t be made any more, the prices are only likely to go up…

The flipside to that argument would be not to assume I have money just because you do. However, just for clarity, I’m currently lvl 38 and have saved up a little over 3g through a combination of mat flipping on TP and light farming. What I dislike is that given the rate of acquisition, the sets require me to spend nearly every last copper I have. And as to your suggestion about the Mad Moon, it’s a good one, but hindsight is 20-20, price could go either way, also you edited it down from 30g to 25g, maybe theyre not selling as well as you thought? Regardless, I didnt have the 5g to invest to begin with.
So because you’re poor, they should provide you with an alternative way of buying an expensive item?
Wow.
If only life worked that way.
I really want this Ferrari, but I don’t have the money required. Would you take these 60 bags of corn as payment?
Heh.
Weapons are available for karma, I see no reason why it can’t be the same for armor, but I sense that you’re going to drag this discussion into some rather lowbrow name-calling and facile analogies, so I’ll leave it at that.
@Chamone: People are selling those precursors for such an absurd price because certain 3rd party individuals are playing the market and buying those things with farmed gold and then selling them directly for real money on their websites.
So either you pay them for the item or you pay them for the gold to buy it off the market. Farming 300g? I’d like to see you do that.
There’s no reason for anything to cost huge sums of gold, without the 3rd parties there wouldn’t be so much gold in the game. Bots are making all that gold.
Just because some people are going crazy with with real money gem purchases exchanging for gold, does not mean the majority are not struggling for sufficient gold to buy cultural armor. I left Diablo 3 for good reason. Yeah..if you spend your time in game trying to speculate on item prices and constantly monitoring the TP prices…instead of actually experiencing the content…then yeah..you can probably make gold doing that too. I prefer to actually play the game instead of trying to win at economics. That being said, I do believe there should be an option to purchase via karma instead of gold. Gold is very slow to acquire in this game and I think the majority of players would agree with that.

Yeah, I’m one of the ones that won’t ever have the cultural armor. You can buy a full set of exotic for less than 1 piece of Tier 3 cultural armor. I’m really happy for the folks that are rolling in gold. No one I know is doing that though. Most are complaining they are strapped for waypoint and armor repair costs.

The fact that you think A-net intended for people to earn their unique armor sets through sitting at the TP all day flipping items is absurd. It ludicrous to think that the best ways to make gold isn’t from actually playing the game (I know right?) but;
One.) playing the TP (who honestly plays gw2 just to do this?)
II.) exploiters/hackers who have gone unnoticed or have yet to be dealt with.
3.) getting extremely lucky.
D.) buy it with real currency.
I Honestly have yet to have more then 10g at any one given time (mainly because I’m not stingy with it.), and I have gotten quite lucky on a few things as-well as grinding my face off to get crafting mats and what not to sell on the tp. In total I have well over 100k karma just from playing and outside of legendary items there isn’t a really big karma sink.
Now to my point, They could make the set something on the order of like 500k karma for the full set to make it equally as difficult to obtain and hardly a slap to the face to the people who earned it using gold.

The reason the T1, T2, and T3 Armor costs what it does is pribally due to the fact its the only race aligned set of gear in the game. The weapons can be bought and used by any race but the armor is another matter entirely. Due to this it makes sense that it would be different. Im personally fine with it costing what it does. Its a fairly unseen skin that people do ask where you got it. Which is the point.
I’ll pass . it costs gold to get it out of circulation which helps the game economy over all .
