Before starting this, I understand the concept of a Legendary Weapon and its rarity….
However, spending a fortune on greatswords for the MF is insane. There has to be a better way to reward a players hard work than by chance.
As for me, I’m done buying gems and supporting a bad mechanic.
Legendary weapons should not depend on chance in any way form or fashion…hard work should be the only deciding factor.
Same goes for the Mystic Clover mat. I think many players would agree, they would be willing to work hard for a Legendary weapon…Take chance out of the equation.

I disagree, I think that your mentality (Which is definitely ok and supported by many others) is that you want to have legendaries more easily obtained. However, I would argue that even the word itself “Legendary” is implying something of immense value. Rather than just having players grind it out, it makes more sense that luck and work are put into the equation. Perhaps other factors can be put into play like a new level 80 only dungeon that require you to have a great deal of agony resist and has a 2% chance to drop a precursor.

I have to agree, some of my friends just joined and reached 80 with some exotics i give to them. But if i want a presecutor i have to star over all day making pve constant and i want only to wvw.

Theres actually to much pve adds and only dungeon defenders players.

i have said this multiple times. Precursors MUST drop from at least one dungeon’s end chest (arah would be my choice). not only this will make Arah extremely lively but you can and will get one after bizillion runs (better than spending 400g).

Fact: every Thief tells you to “l2p” when the subject is to nerf stealth.

You totally misunderstand…..
I am not saying it should be easier by no means. It should be even harder if anything.
It should not rely on chance…no player can do anything about chance.
Hard work and skill should determine the possibilities of owning Legendary items.
but hey if you want to keep spending your hard earned gold on something that “maybe” and thats a big maybe will forge, you go ahead.

Honestly the concept of legendary weapons is flawed horribly… As it stands it feels like they would rather you get a legendary using your legendary master card….. Really look at the price of gems right now… ok now that’s over look at the price of t6 materials which you need in bulk…. ok that’s out of the way to… Now look at the drop rates….. Even the most hardcore player cant farm that… I’ve been putting nearly 16 hours a day into farming materials for my legendary… Over the past 3 weeks I’ve made not even 3% of the total materials I need…. I could buy them for gold BUT I think I should be able to FARM them… I’m investing the time to farm and getting no payout…

Oh and this is with 150+% magic find.. They need to re evaluate the current system… All it does is favor those who spend real cash to convert to gold and buy there way to a legendary… I know karma isn’t bought but that accumulates quickly over time especially if you use boosters and stuff and actually play the game…. But the other stuff no matter how much effort you put into getting it you will still come out behind..

TL;DR

You’re to easily able to BUY your way to a legendary outside of the karma/tokens…. Allow us to actually farm what we need…. Time invested should be rewarded not punished. 14 hours a day farming should yield more then it currently does.

Oh and yes I mean 14 hours a day I’m a no lifer…. And I feel more rewarded grinding raids and heroics on wow then on gw2 at the moment.

I actually completely agree with you. They need to restore the reward from hard work mechanic to the game. They had it at launch. If you didn’t want to spend money on gems you could spend hours farming for the things you needed in open world and eventually get the items you wanted by not only building up the mats but also leveling the crafting to get there. Same went for legendaries. One could earn one not by running the same dungeon all the time for the only place to get mats but by doing multiple tasks to obtain one.

We actually used to get exotics and sometimes precursors from Dragon fights. It’s not like that anymore and it’s tiresome. Sure those fights aren’t that difficult now that most people can figure out what they are about and how to work around the attacks but still it’s ridiculous to expect people to keep playing a game where there isn’t a single reward worth the time anymore.

The “Hard Work Model” works when you have a gear treadmill. It works because the hard work doesn’t end.

No matter how “hard” you make it, if you make it guaranteed from any source, you’ll have Legendaries all over the place. Either that, or you make it too hard and nothing will essentially change.

Maybe have the option to craft them. For instance, the trainer sells the recipe for say 500K karma. You have the recipe lets say for the dreamer. Now it costs 100 of those ancient logs, 100 of the hardened leather or whatever the T6 mat is. The insignia itself would say bet 100-150 of whatever T6 mats are.

Yes it would be expensive to craft, or even a while to farm, but at least you could farm it and make it. It wouldn’t be easy, but at least it’s reasonable.

500,000 Karma?

That’s 66-112 Jugs of Liquid Karma.

That’s 46-112 days for a Precursor.

That’s quite a short time, if you ask me. After all, that’s just from doing the Daily and Monthly Achievement.

Just to clarify – precursors can and do drop. I had a friend who got “Dusk” as a reward for completing the Lyssa event. However, as drops, they are extremely rare, as they should be. There are multiple routes you can go – you can run events in Orr, you can use the Mystic Forge, or you can play the game to earn gold and buy it off the TP. The last is the only ‘guaranteed’ way, involving no chance, just lots of determination.

People who play the market or got lucky and obtained a precursor early always say that the current process is fine. Those who get abused by the RNG think its a terrible system.

We aren’t all masters of the trading post.

I agree RNG should not be the only way to get a precursor.

Wait for the scavenger hunt update, it should address your concerns. Though we don’t know many details or a date yet.

I was talking with my wife about this the other day. There should be less RNG and more challenges involved. I was talking about a really long, hazardous jump puzzle with knock back mobs, wind, swinging logs, etc. at the end you have to solo a boss of some sort that will test your abilities. Sounds more interesting to me.

Though, I suggest you do not melt weapons in the mystic forge if you can’t wait, you will spend more money that way. Most people spend as much or more than their precursor trying and never getting it, not wise.

If 280g is too much for you, you may as well give up as you will spend/grind that much or more just for the gifts of might and magic alone. Not sure how much your lodestones for twilight are but for my sunrise they were 300g for 100 charged.

Absolutely this.

Anet said they want to reinvent mmos. Well here’s a great way to do it: make alternatives to grinding. Maybe a new, extremely hard dungeon that gives precursors as end loot. Or a solo-only dungeon. Or an elite-level questline.

Don’t get rid of grinding. Just add other options.

Sorry, I’ve tossed in roughly 100 greatswords, no luck yet. tried my luck with hammer,s about 60 of them (20) yesterday, no dice. But some nice named exotics that were TP worthy.

It’s not like unlocking the map happened in a week, so why should this drop rate in MF be any better? To date, I’ve likely only invested about 20-30G worth of weapons tossed into the forge. I’d expect I’ll start feeling your pain when I’m at around 200G and thinking will this kitten thing ever drop I shoulda bought it outright (fearing I’ll be spending more doing this avenue versus buying it on the TP). But again, will have a lot of other rewards.

Oh, and I went 4 for 14 on mystic clovers the first night, then 1 for 7 or 8 the second night, and then 0 for 12 the third. I got a lot of other T6 mats though. No biggie, in time mister, you will get yours.

Willing to pay for boxed expansion if you put legit GvG in the box $$
