Daily Achievements to roll over PLEASE
Sucks to be you, but I’m sure ANet will change it just for you
I completly agree with your suggestion. My commute and actual work hours span from 6:00am to 7:30pm. I find my self on the week days logging on then powering through the dailies as quickly as possible before logging off and getting some sleep for my rl.
It’d be nice to be able to get these dailies more casually rather than racing to finish them as quickly as possible. I could also just stop doing dailies on the weekdays but i’d like to get some of the new gear sometime this year.
Sounds like you have 90 minutes of playtime per day. If reset is at 8:00pm for you, you have 8 to 8:30 and then 7 – 8 the next day.
That’s plenty of time. If I try to just do my dailies, I can waypoint once or twice, and finish in under 30 minutes.
I agree with the roll over.
This game is specifically designed for casual gamers, and even have elements for more hardcore ones as well.
But mostly the casual gamers, who really work full-time jobs and such.
why? because it is a daily task, not a infinite amount of time until you get around to finishing it task.
A rollover would be nice.
I know in GW1, you could stack up to three days worth of Zaishen Challenge Quests (generically speaking, “dailies”) in your log. If you tried to get a new quest for the forth day, you would be asked to either complete an old one or abandon it.
I suppose rolling over the daily achievement could work here in GW2 by simply having it stack up to 3~7 days worth. That way, those who don’t get to play everyday has a certain grace period to play catch-up. I can deal with that!

So the mechanic was fine until you got your new job? Very interesting.

Of course, but how else to realise an issue until your circumstances change and it becomes aprarant.
A roll over seams a good idea, arbitrary cut off times can never suit everyone and the games is supposed to be designed around the players after all.
An idea with no downsides that i can see.

+1… BUT it is a DAILY………so
You are given a daily monday, if you don’t complete it till thursday after reset, too bad you lost tuesday’s through thursday’s. But the actual achievements from monday is not reset with the server resets.

Does the feasibility of his suggestion require you to be acrimonious? It’s a valid complaint, and this IS the appropriate forum.

the only issue the OP realized is that it wasn’t convenient for them to dally any more .I can guarantee you there are people out there with the same time constraint that still get them done. They are fine the way they are
So you have 1½ hour a day, well even when i don’t go very concentrated after them in 95%+ of the days i get them done in around 30 minutes, which is only 1/3 of the time you have it seem, im sure i could do them in like 10 minutes if i really wanted to. And as others have pointed out it is a “daily”, not a “tri-daily” or “weekly” or something like that
Why is there even a currency and items gated behind a DAILY Chore? It’s not like sitting on our butts gaming is really a healthy endeavour. Why not group the dailies into a stack of 7 and call them a weekly? A stack we can nibble on here and there. Or, we can take a huge bite out of when we have the time. You know, maybe just a little bit on Tuesday’s & Wednesday’s. Maybe on little bit more on Monday’s & Thursday’s. Either way when we finish one, we finish one. Then off to the next one on the stack.
Why aren’t Laurels able to be purchased with real currency I have no idea. All this gating is really going to backfire on you Arenanet. As OCD as gamer’s can be, there’s a limit to it. Show some trust that you actually have a game people would like to play everyday. Instead of trying to force your customers by having dailies.
For the OP, take a day off from the game. Come back just before 8pm ready to go. Start the daily at reset. Whenever you have to log off, then log off. If it’s a half hour, then great! You are that much closer to finishing it. Think about it, the next day you’ll have twice as long to finish it.
I’d post how I do my daily usually. But, the moment Arenanet see’s you’ve figured things out, they change it. Effectively pulling the rug out from you.
If I find myself playing before 8PM, I can almost guaranteed never do the daily. I don’t like to hustle through the daily achievement just to get it. I like it to guide my play and get it slowly. It typically takes me an hour or two.
This has made me pretty much not even want to log on until 8PM, and now I’m cutting into my “wind down” time where I should be going to bed.
I just don’t feel that we should be bending to a program or a process’s will.
Its not a bad idea, its still a daily task well sort of, but its more of a “you can only get this reward once a day” and there are tasks you must complete and when you do complete them new tasks will show up just like they do.
It is very hard for my wife too, she is lucky I do it for her.
It resets at 8pm for us. She has to be in bed by 7pm, she wakes up at 3:30am, starts work at 5am, get home (after traffic) at 4:30ish pm, eats and does homework, she now only has about 1hour max to play GW2 (and she does) but she doesn’t want to spend the whole hour/ 30m doing the daily, she would like to do other things too like Super Adventure box, a Dungeon run (cof, Ac, TA etc..) or een maybe a Fotm, so she now has to choose… To daily or not to daily?
It is really frustrating to her as well.
Not all of us are lucky enough to play 2-4 hours a day, some of us have work, school and family.
bumping this after two weeks to see if anyone maybe missed it but actually wants this feature.
I’ve started to make accommodations around the game to try to enjoy it more, but it still feels really silly to me that players are adjusting their play style to the game’s schedule regarding something that’s relatively trivial and simple to fix.
Wouldn’t it be easier to just push it back say 6 hours or so? I hate to suggest a solution that doesn’t really address the problem, but if we made it 7AM GMT it would be 3AM EST and 12AM PST, and 5PM in Sidney, Australia, which seems like a better time frame in general that accomodates most people, but that still leaves the problem in place it just now affects fewer, different people.
Anet, despite being a western company, caters to European audiences mostly, the reset time is rather blatent in this regard. Resets of counters should happen at midnight server time (and given if you are on a NA server it better be midnight for one of the time zones over here) and not an arbitrary location on the globe.
Time is a construct, proof is that it is a different time on any given spot ont he planet, thus resets and the like should be at convenient times for those in set districts, not universal.
They should add a set of weekly achievements that you can complete, and you either get your laurels from dailies, or from that each week, but it’ll still award some gold/exp.
Maybe you get 6 laurels from the weekly, or you could decide to do a daily, which locks you out from the 6 weekly laurels, but gives you the opportunity to get 7 from the week in dailies. Doing either would still award the gold/exp.

That’s a fantastic idea! I like that a LOT. Admittedly, it still doesn’t address the daily issue, but this would alleviate a significant amount of the pain.
It’s so incredibly frustrating that my new job means I basically only get to play around 7-8:30PM (Eastern Standard Time) and I don’t get to play every day.
This means I am practically UNABLE to ever get a daily achievement. It is so incredibly frustrating to get to 75-80% of my daily completion every single time I try.
It’s actually kitten near infuriating! The moment 8PM hits, I’m so annoyed, I just quit GW2.
Why can my daily achievements just roll over until I have time to finally complete one, and then just make it limited to maximum once per day?
I hate comparing to other games, but that’s how so many other games do it, and it just makes more sense to me. There’s a large chunk of the game that will take me 10x longer to participate in because I got a new job that’s inconvenient to the Arena Net gaming schedule for daily resets.
This has been frustrating me for weeks, and I finally decided to make a forum post after not finding anything (but maybe I’m just bad at searching)
Please, Anet, I beg you to make this change.
So, you have and hour and a half to do your daily? Half an hour after the refresh to get it started and then an entire hour before the next? I just did it in half an hour by doing the four events at the end of Hirathi Hinterlands. Thoise four evens are often enough to get most of the dailies. There’s group events, lots of mobs, lot of veterans, champions, you get a ton of salvage items. Condition dropping and adding just has to do with your class. I finished off with variety just by making a quick run around the zone, 13 is rediculously easy, there are three or four just in the events. The events happen so often that you’re almost guaranteed to run into them in that short time, possibly a couple times. The only ones you can’t do, obviously are the ones connected to non-Krytan zones.
Two things. You have more than enough time to do the dailies in your limited play time. If you only have an hour and a half to play, you have no need for what you get from dailies.

Then they couldn’t be called “Dailies.”
Sorry don’t see this happening… As it is most folks can get their dailies done in up to 2 hours. usually less

2 hours? Yeesh, you have to be in a really bad zone for it and be just bumbling along to take that long
