Daily: Kill Variety
In certain maps, it is definitely a lot harder and maybe impossible to get 15 variety kills (Orr maps come to mind). However, plenty of maps have more than enough. All the beginning areas is possible to finish this part of the achievement. I always just go to Queensdale to do it as I’m familiar with that area, but places like Kessex Hills and Gendarran Hills are just a viable. In fact, I’ve done this plenty of times just exploring new maps such as Diessa Plateau and both Norn and Charr areas of different levels as well when trying for map completion.
It is a bit more frustrating than the others, but I can do the daily in about an hour or less given my pacing.
I wish there was a small word that told you what type of enemy they are, like critter or beast or human or whatever. I keep killing different things but they end up being in the same class as something else. I also discovered pirate to be its own class, which is weird, I was imagining human would be the class.
I enjoy the Kill Variety part of the Dailies.

I agree. For each map, have some kind of console (chat) command like /?mobs for a list of mobs/creatures populating any current map. That way you have a better idea of what you should be going for. I was in a scenario earlier in the day where I had like 75% Kill Variety and I was going around killing Dolyaks/ Stalkers/ Doe/ Stags/ anything neutral or hostile just to achieve it.
However, places like Orr makes for less careless travel. Plus most of the time you see usually 1 kind of category type of mob just scattered making things more tedious. It’s understandable that lore-wise Orr is supposed to be an inhospitable area full of dead and corruption, but with the likely-hood of attracting too much aggro just to find 1 or a few more varieties just to complete makes things worse. So something like a ‘mob variety’ command would be helpful at times.
At the very least, I wish there was some way in-game to tell what you had already killed for the achievement.
That works too. A sort of tally/check off.

I like the Kill Variety goal, and I find it pretty easy to keep a mental tally of which types you’ve killed, but I wouldn’t be against a kill variety counter that keeps track of which varieties you’ve already tagged. After a while you become familiar with which enemies fall into which categories, and it’s just a matter of running around a big enough segment of the map to different enemy spawns. (This is harder to do in Orr though, I hear.)
This isnt too difficult as critters (rabbids, birds) are also accountable for this to be achieved. I can pull it of moving between two zones.

To add to this, critters can count towards different enemy types. I’m not sure which category mammal critters like rabbits and racoons count towards, but hawks/owls/etc. count towards the Raptor category, mosquitoes/sparkflies count towards the Insect category, while crabs count towards the Shell category. Not sure which category frogs count towards.
i think pirates are classed as outlaws
80 warr [Blaze Steelsoul], 80 ele [Blaze Nightstrike], 80 mesmer [Grim Shatterwhirl]
80 guard [Dusk Grimlight], 80 engi [Flintgear]
And that is not true , i get mine from the human stater area almost everyday.
Granted i do get out of my way to do it. But it is one zone.
I don’t feel too troubled about this one.
Just a counter-response to OP’s suggestion of replacing it with “level X times” or “gain X experience”:
-Leveling can take considerably longer than killing 15 varieties.
-Gaining experience will favour the higher level characters who get more experience sum through dynamic events and kills in general, compared to a new character.
I like the variety kills because it doesn’t necessary take that long and that any character has equal chance of doing it.
no issues here, i enjoy the daily Kill Variety achievement.
Live and die on this day. Live and die on this day.”
well ill go to lion srch to north waypoint and go outside ,ihave mi routine there everyday i do the 15 variety in less than 10 minute there and gather to -15/20 sometimes there then for event ill go to orr and do event whit zerg oor alone killing acolytes its not hard its easy.
I can finish all of my daily in 1-15lvl zones.
You can complete dailies in the human starter area, thats where i go, its fast and easy to do in 10 minutes or less
Live and die on this day. Live and die on this day.”
i have no issues with kill variety. it is usually one of the quickest completed
Kill variety is the best of the dailies there is, don’t take it away. And it is definitely possible to get within one zone, think I don’t most of my dailies while in just one zone. Only ones I had to move out of to get the daily was Orr zones.
Ofc. pirates does not count as human. There is charr, norn, asura, sylvari and even a quaggan pirat (although you do not fight that last one). Having them classed as outlaws would make sense.
