Daily Reset at 8pm EST?
i get home at 6:00 from work and then i eat dinner. that gives me 1h to do the daily before 7:00 minus the time needed to cook and eat.
i agree. the reset is at pretty much the worst possible time for people that work. personally i think it should be at 12:00am.
The daily reset is worldwide (iirc).
It resets at midnight/1am for the GMT European population and mid-evening for PST. If you are planning your days around it, then complete it right after it reset?
I won’t go into the optional/required bit as I see it as a required goal personally, even though I don’t run FotM.

I always have my daily done prior to it reseting I come home from work at 430pm or 9pm either wait a few hours for my daily to reset to do it or do it at 9pm when I get home Idk how people say they come home and only have an hour to finish up the daily that you should of already had done in less than 15mins the day prior when it reset at 7pm.
Anet use UTC for their resets. Everything resets at 00:00 UTC. If they were to set it for, say 03:00 EST, that would be 08:00 UTC. You see the problem this can cause.
With daylight savings, dailies should be changed to reset earlier. 8pm est is far too late, doubt anet will listen though.

Why are you waiting until the last moments to do these things, anyway? This isn’t a 25-page term paper or the quarterly report on paperclip usage by the data processing department. It’s stuff that’s easy to knock out in twenty minutes if you’re an ultra-efficient “farmer” type player, or an hour if you take a more casual approach.
It’s 8 pm in the Eastern US, 5 pm on the west coast, and the daily just reset. You didn’t even lose an hour because of DST, it reset after exactly 24 hours, as always. Get it done after dinner, an hour or two before bedtime, whatever, and it’s out of the way for another day.
They’re easy, too. I could do six of the ones for tonight in my sleep. The March monthly is also done, I thought the 100-veteran counter would be tough but once I started keeping an eye out for them it seems like there’s a vet around every corner.
Yea, EDT now not EST.
RIP City of Heroes
This is a U.S. problem, unfortunately, not an ArenaNet issue. We’re the ones changing the clocks. Can’t just shift things around for us and cause a shuffle for the rest of the world.
Is it possible for you guys to rethink this? Having the Daily kick in right in the middle of prime US gaming time is a TERRIBLE idea. Maybe you don’t realize it, but a good chunk of players immediately drop everything they are doing to go chase Dailies. This creates a lot of havoc. Why wouldn’t you have the reset at 3AM or some other slow time?
3AM Eastern American time is peak playing time in my time zone – which is not in America.
No matter what time they pick it will be “bad” for someone but it has to happen.
Americans get most things their way – take the lost shores for example that whole thing was done to purely suit US players. I personally think it’s good that the resets don’t happen in my peak playing time
The studio is in America, good probably the servers (including the EU ones) are too. I think daily reset at 0Z is a rather surprising decision. I would have expected 5/6am Pacific coast time when few are playing in America. For once the rest of the world isn’t messed over just because the game was developed in the US of A.
RIP City of Heroes
It is going to be in the middle of some kind of prime time some where.
I have no problem with it flipping when it does. Fine as it is. There are more pressing issues to fix.
I swear, people complain about anything.

LoL. Uh, no. The Lost Shores event kicked off in the middle of a work day for U.S. players. There was a ton of angry/frustrated posting about it at the time. It wasn’t done “purely to suit U.S. players”, more like “in spite of”.
For pete’s sake, almost every time they put out a patch, it happens right during the U.S. prime-time (evening) hours.
I’m pretty sure in theses cases it’s whatever is most convenient for ArenaNet.

When the vast majority of your players are in one region (the US), you really should have things set up to make that area happy.
What I hate is that progress made in the “Daily” is made null at 5pm. If I have a narrow window for play – say 4:45pm to 5:15pm – I’m screwed. Progress made should not be erased at 5pm!

Are you quite sure the majority of players is from that region? There are 24 NA servers, 27 EU servers.
And no, that is not because of the language servers. The only language server group with population of 1 server, is Spanish. Therefore, if there was less French players, there would be less french servers, ect.
People who can’t tend to call the opponent troll, scream something utterly incomprehensible
and finally result to personal insults.

You don’t need to do your daily just from 4:45 to 5:00, you can also use the 5:00 to 5:15 part. Don’t wait for the deadline to come and complain you had no time, get ahead of the curve and finish early.
For east coast Au the reset currently comes at 11am, when most are at work. For me my daily is usually done 30 minutes after the reset, not cramming 30 before it.

NA servers are in the US, Eu servers are in Germany. The whole point of seperating Eu was so they didn’t have higher ping connecting to US servers (though all of austalasia gets screwed as usual).
If someone plays for one hour every day then they have one hour to finish their daily, if they play six hours every day then they have six hours to finish their daily. No matter if it resets while they are playing or not.
You don’t have to finish it in one go, just take the time you have left after the reset to start your new daily then finish it the next day. If you can’t do that then changing the reset time wont matter.
