Lol you actually made me laugh bruv!
I’m with Vaske here. Voting “no, thank you.”
Seems like that people are not that competitive at all…
No, this does not need to be in the game. The ability to stay alive in a dungeon is what we rate people by, not by what numbers they can do. I don’t see how this would add any challenge into the game other than a unwanted competition between players.
Making things more challenging and more fun involves improving the dungeons. We need more mechanics rather than the boss having a big health pool and a one shot skill. That’s what we’re missing, not a damage meter.
absolutely a must have. not just damage meter, also damage taken etc.. (like the wow recount, just perfect)
A damage meter for theory-crafting i.e. not in use during dungeons? Sure.
But when it comes to dungeons, because there isn’t a guy standing there taking all of the heat, everyone has to focus on things other than damage as well.

You put it perfectly.
If your fun is proving how awesome your deeps are, you’re in the wrong game. Though I hear they are adding a ranking system in PVP, so I hope that solves the itch.

WoW is that way —-——- >
Seriously. I wish more people played older MMOs so they could know that things such as Addons, Recount, Mounts, etc are not required to be successful in this genre.

They should change the name of those to kitten hat meters, cause when I did play wow the only time the thing was used, was to tell other people what someone else thought they was doing wrong ,which is the elitist way.
In wow that might have been ok, cause there where maybe only 2 or 3 talent trees you could choose from to maximize the damage output and really you could focus hardly into these talents knowing that a healer was there to wash your little hiney. But here its not like that, the talents are really open for the individual to play with to get something they like and will be useful in your survival, instead of what the few deem as the cookie cutter.
There are pvp area’s which are designed for competitiveness, you should go there to get that competitive feeling. Of course you might want to take my advice and key into some talents to keep ya butt alive. Because you will see rather quickly that, its not about doing the most damage, its about being able to take the most damage and live to tell the tale. Which I find is more useful in Pve area’s like dungeons as well.
a thousand times NO

Well said.
Since there is no real trinity no one is supposed to be a pure DPS. A damage meter would only encourage people to go for high numbers instead of learning how to master their character’s profession.

That, and cause people to go full class cannon and die more than doing damage.
those are all possibly valid opinions
but the fact remains
the damage meter is a tool
tools can be used by used in different ways, by different people
elitists, noobs that think the only important thing is dmg, etc
just because a damage meter is introduced does not mean things do not “need more mechanics rather than the boss having a big health pool and a one shot skill”
why must it be one or the other? such thinking is fallacy
i second the motion for a damage meter
but first maybe we need a better combat log??
including options for condi dmg?
it would be nice with graphs and categories of damage type over time
and maybe an option for not just damage done (including aoes and random things that take 20k damage) but damage done to a specific target
the actual meter could be a read of a summation of different things from each player in your party
i don’t care about seeing other’s damage…
but i want to know mine!
on another note, what ever happened to that unkillable npc on pvp island in gw1? you give him all you got over 30 seconds or longer and he tells you your total damage and dps. that would be a good addition to have next to our training dummies/golems/targets

This is what I suggested a bit further up:
A ‘damage meter’ for theorycrafting, but it isn’t used in dungeons.

yes graphic, statistics, numbers is all i want to see in an mmo… why see nice environment at all… i don’t want my eyes to be distracted from tics and dps numbers please! i need exactly to know how much dmg i can do… before i do it!
