Because gold spammers seem to be an unstoppable irritant in any MMO perhaps they should be incorporated into the game. Offer the player a reward for reporting spammers such as an achievement or, ironically, some gold.

Perhaps crowd-source the banhammer so that after say 50-100 complaints the account is suspended saving yourselves some work.

Better yet, an in-game spam filter, so I never get the crap to begin with.

When we REPORT a gold spammer, auto BLOCK as well so we do not have to do both functions. Also, since I report for SPAMMING more than any other activity, please make that the default dropdown. Make it easy for us please!

Also, when I report a piece mail as spam, auto-delete it.

I like the auto-block and auto-delete suggestions. I’ll /second both of those.

With the number of gold sellers I’ve had to report so far, you should add a new category for gold sellers other than spammers/scamming. This would probably make your lives easier too, as I see a lot of people asking on Twitter which category they should use to report gold sellers.

Maybe have it so that if X amount of people send in reports within X amount of a time window the game can autoban these accounts. Make the report number not so low that players can troll people and have Anet restoring accounts while not so high that no spammer ever gets banned, its a win/win because we can do some community policing and at the same time making Anets job a lot easier since they would no longer have to sift through all of the report complaints I am sure they are getting.

I don’t quite understand why game companies can’t implement a filter that checks the text in an email and refers it to tech if it contains the name of a gold spamming site. Surely they don’t need scads of people to report these messages if they had something simple like that – that’s what the spam filter on my RL email does after all.
