I honestly think it’s too expensive. Highest I paid to teleport was 4.52silver and that was from Yak (Frostgorge Sound) to Anchorage (Cursed Shore).

That’s practically across the world map for less than 5 silver. I consider that cheap. A few events with some kills here and there can easily cover that. And no, I’m not some super rich dude with a commander tag and legendary weapons.

I think the waypoint cost is about right, but Anet needs to increase the amount of silver rewarded for completing DEs. 1 DE should be enough to pay for 1 Waypoint. Basically, you should be able to take a waypoint to participate in an event, have the port cost covered by the event, then whatever you loot is profit.

I got lucky and found a few expensive runes and sigils, some dark and shiny dyes that sold for a lot, and a couple good exotics that netted me about 50g, but I even cringe a bit every time I have to waste 3s. I’m not cheap enough to go to the mists/lion’s arch, but I still don’t like the idea of losing gold to do a DE.

Yeah, you can make it back fairly easily if you’re adventuring in appropriate level areas. But if you go back to a starter zone, the WP travel costs don’t get cheaper, if I remember correctly.

I actually hope ANet will create a Gem Store item like a “Asura Frequent Traveller Orb” that reduces WP travel costs by 50%, and maybe a greater version that makes it 100% free. I’m willing to be that item would result in a LOT of gems being bought.

Events in starter zones still nets me a decent amount of coin as a level 80 character. 1 silver plus, if I remember correctly. So two or three of those low level events will be enough to let me waypoint back if I’m feeling lazy.

WP serves as a coin sink to help the economy. it’s needed and it’s not so bad to merit cutting the price. from level 35 zones you have events that give you 1 silver.

Some people dont have alot of money and dont play the game tactical and go to that waypoint and an another.

I think they should rather decrease the cost upon death. We already pay to fix the armor, we don’t need to pay that much to go back to a waypoint.
I know it’s a money sink, but they need to learn that not everyone spends their day farming gold.

Whether something is either wrong or right, someone will always complain about it.

Waypoint costs are fine.
Armour repair costs is fine too. Nothing is wrong with these 2 costs.

1. Walk if you cant afford the waypoint
2. Do events to pay for your waypoint costs. The events are there for a reason.
3. Dont die
4. Stop salvaging items if you cant afford to. Itll save you TONES of coins. Sell your junk to vendors and save up money to salvage if you must.
5.Dont skip content. If you do, its your own fault you dont have money.
6.Dont ask for more nerfs on the forums, because it make sthe game easier.
7.I didnt buy a game to have a breeze on it. I expect challenges. Money is a challenge amongst other things in the game.
8.Stop being cheap.
9.Being lazy isnt an excuse for nerfing content.
10.Be smart when you place orders/bids on the Trading Post. Dont undercut others by 10s or more. 1c or 0c will do the job. Dont place orders that you cant afford. Dont place bids over 1c or more. This is just stupid and wastes your money, and everyone elses. Dont sell junk on the TP, you loose money on the listing fee. Sell your junk to vendors.

If your solution to the anti boring system is don’t use the anti boring system. . . It is not fine. Waypoint costs must go. Regular players are asked to walk around like chumps while bots use beaming codes and farm everything. Players are asked to trudged to dungeons to play together. You have to pay to help guildies. It’s dumb, and must leave.

Money is a grind. Please define your words better. Also, I doubt anyone would call using a waypoint challenging so, by this point, their fee is not required.

I would like to see waypoint costs removed entirely.

I understand that the game has an economy and that coin sinks are needed to prevent hyperinflation, but I feel that charging players for travel is just a “quick fix”. We should have coin sinks that encourage us to use them (like prestige armour in GW1), rather than punish us with tedious running for not using them.

I believe I read somewhere that one of ArenaNet’s principles when designing this game was to get rid of time spent “preparing to have fun”. The waypoint system does that by cutting down on travel time, but it seems disingenuous to give players such a helpful system and then discourage them from using it.

I don’t find the cost prohibitive – it doesn’t really affect my decision to use the waypoints. All it does is make me feel bad every time I use them and I can’t imagine that was the game designers’ intent.

The problem with waypoint costs is that they in fact discourage helping other players with small tasks which are not likely to cover the expense of the teleport.
An event boss on a map, for example, is often too far away to run to it before it is (or the players present are) defeated. Helping these players in time would require a teleport to the nearest waypoint. For a level 80 that is at least 1 silver. You might make that money back with the mob drops you get, but you have no guarantee to not actually lose money for helping other players out.

The cost of small-distance teleports (e.g. resurrecting after defeat) is way too high either way, though.
The way it is, a player that has been killed is punished two times. Armor repair and teleport costs.

GW1 didn’t have waypoint costs. GW2 shouldn’t either. It’s an unnecessary ‘tax’ and unwanted by most players
