I read somewhere that one of the reasons there are not as many new armour and weapon design coming into the game, is that Anet does not have the artist staff to do that right now.

Well, that silly, because I am sure there re half a million players out there just waiting for a chance to design some stuff.

So, here is an idea. Launch a design competition, inviting the community to submit design in various categories. This will address the above issue, as well as involve the community in a far more direct and tangible way.

What could the prizes be? Perhaps a set of the new armour/weapons, perhaps a set gets names after the designers character of choice, perhaps gems. In the end, everyone wins, because we get more content, and Anet get a lot of creative ideas to brows through.

They’re called Interns But yeah, I saw something about a contest for armor designs as well for something official, just can’t find it.

But i agree with the competition, it worked for Valve with DotA2, why shouldn’t it here?

Seen the same concept work not only in games, but in numerous other industries. It is both branding and marketing at the same time, and in the end it’s not even the company that does the work, its the community. The company simply reaps the benefits.

Lots in something like this for Anet. The beauty is, there is a lot in it for us as players as well.
