this is my first post , and maybe its been done so don’t hate lol

but i was thinking , wouldn’t a different trait build be a good idea for when you’re underwater ? its different weapons and different skills so ( at least for me ) I find that the trait builds dont carry over as well.

YUP. It saddens me that ArenaNet has not put more work into the water combat system. It feels so flowly and natural, which most games NEVER get right when it comes to putting characters in water.

But yes, then we end up with certain classes that natural excel underwater (ranger), and others that refuse to even enter it (thief). I got into a staring contest with a thief the other day because I wanted to fight him in the water and he wanted to fight on land lol.

I think your idea is a good basis for starting to enhance the underwater experience. All the mechanics are there, and we have a separate underwater utility set… so lets take it to the next level!

In the future I would also like to see a portion of a wvw map that has an underwater (or mostly water) fortress, with underwater rams, harpoon guns (think ballistas). They could put them on floaties like the engi turrets. But a lot of work would need to be paid to the underwater balance first before that should happen. Many people don’t have a clue what their underwater abilities do.

This is beyond a great idea; this is simply amazing and I think they should really look into this! For me would take this game to a whole new level the underwater fighting is already beautiful but with a separated trait chart I think it would be even more amazing

Imo right now water combat is a bore. I really hope anet can improve everything. Allow for more skills underwater and over all options. Also why is masterwork still the best aquabreather you can get?

I have been saying we need a different set of traits for underwater for a while. If Anet would be so kind as to do it like we have different sets for sPvP that would be awesome.

I really love this idea and I hope others appreciate how fluid the water combat base mechanics are. It has so much potential, let’s not waste it! Ideas like this will take water combat to a whole new level in this game.
