Disabling Ranger Pets
I highly doubt this will ever happen. If you can’t stand the pets, don’t play ranger
Ranger is a pet class. It is, in fact, the pet class of Guild Wars 2. Some might concider the Necro with their slew of pets, but they just summon, they don’t control.
As a Ranger you need to be able to micromanage a pet, if you can’t, then you just shouldn’t be playing a Ranger. Don’t ask to change the single mechanic unique to the ranger just because it doesn’t suit your play style.

I don’t like the aesthetics of pets. If they didn’t look so kitten I wouldn’t mind them.
It corrects kitten to kitten. Weird. I meant kitten /p>
WTF! DEERPY IS WHAT I MEANT
You don’t like kittens?
I would even PAY to get rid of the (mainly dead and a liability) pet.
And Rangers are not a pet class, that’s a beasmaster.
Sadly I always play a Ranger, and nothing else, stupidly I thought we would be able to dump it like GW1, w cahnge something that wasn’t broken and made everybody happy.
If there’s one thing that makes me leave this game, it will be the Ranger pet.

Ranger is the pet profession. No going around that, it’s their inbuilt mechanic, and there’s no dumping that. If you want to play an archer without a pet, play a warrior or a thief.

Well you won’t enjoy the Ranger much then, because that is their class mechanic, and if you ignore it you will not be very effective. My ranger’s pets are carefully selected to be part of my build. I don’t really see them as pets, but rather just another weapon that happens to go where I tell it to (most of the time), provides me with two additional skills, and generates effects when I swap it.
There are other classes that can be effective at range, why were you thinking Ranger? Did a particular skill or trait appeal to you?

You can argue it all you want, but Ranger IS a pet class. Every class has at least one unique mechanic. Elementalist can change between four different sets for their weapons. Warrior charges up a single big attack. Necromancer can charge up then swap into a semi-invulnerable state with unique powers. Rangers get pets. That is the entirety and extent of their unique ability, to have pets with some level of control.
A Beastmaster specializes in pets, like a Death Magic Necro specializes in their mechanic. Each class has one trait line that specializes in their mechanic but that doesn’t change that every other spec of that class still has that mechanic. Rangers are a pet class whether you specialize in it or not.
The main problem, as I see it, is people keep thinking this is GW1. I don’t know why, because this game doesn’t even hold a passing resemblance to that one, except that it takes place in the same setting, roughly. The classes are diferent, even the ones with the same names. It’s up to you to learn to cope with the differences, not ANet’s to change things so you don’t have to.

They should just make it so stowed pets -stay- stowed. I like Ranger and don’t mind the pets, but sometimes they’re a little obnoxious and more bane than boon.
I would like if they added more ways to control the pet, like how with heroes in guild wars 1 you could flag them to an area and they would go there
I have always played Warrior, but would love to play Ranger. The reason I don’t is because of pets. They move so weird, side to side and not realistically at all. If I could even pay like 800 gems to have an option to disable my pet as Ranger. I know I can stash it, but when I enter combat is comes back. Please!
I am not trying to troll you but I think you need to learn to control the pet. If this is ever allowed I would kick any and every ranger without a pet from any group I was in. Simply put, a pet accounts for anywhere between 30 to 55 percent of the damage you can do depending on wich pet you choose.

I think another thing the folks that just leave their pets on aggressive don’t consider is that if you put them on passive and use your F1 key they don’t switch targets when you do. Not only does this let you attack two different targets at the same time, but it allows you to position your pet on the battlefield.
I don’t understand all the rangers running around with dead pets. Between being able to swap them, make them return to you, and make them attack specific targets, they usually only die when I’m not on the ball or in a fight with a lot of red circles on the floor.

Ranger has pets, but it was never a pet class, in GW1 you could totally remove the pets, and in fact i did for years and loved it, please bring back this feature…stow permanently or remove them they are a liability to the class..
They also make jump puzzles insanely hard to do…
Passive or Aggressive makes no difference mobs hone in on them and still cause issues
This is not GW1, in GW2, Ranger is the pet profession. Denying that is like denying that you can play as a Guardian.

If you aren’t in combat, you can stow them instantly. Stow them before you start the jumping puzzle. Stow them when you’re planning on running through an area to get some place. It’s really not hard.
If you do get hit while you’re running through a an area causing your pet to become unstowed, put some distance between you and the mob, then swap your pet and it appears where you are. This is another advantage of leaving your pet on passive, they just keep running with you, they don’t stop and aggro more stuff.

I’d be happy if they just made the pet stayed hidden when I take damage and only came out when I attack. Or, if possible, only if set to aggressive.
Much easier to avoid traps and do puzzles this way.
