Do Away with World Boss Timers
In other words “please make it easier for me and people like me to farm the world events”

this
what a joke
Who has time to show up for a world boss and stand there for 30 unsure minutes for the timer to count down til the pre-event can be initiated, in which you are not really sure will happen on time anyway.
Put all the World bosses off timers and fix them to start the the pre event the moment a certain amount of people are present at the WB location. Or have it so Commanders can start the pre-event on call or put them in the bounty system for guilds to hunt them down once per day. Just something, so we can play with what time we allow ourselves to play in instead of waiting and waiting and waiting…..Its like playing GW1 and having to sell your items in trade chat all over again… I didn’t have time for that crap then and I don’t have time for this crap now.
If somebody has a better idea please by all means share it. Don’t just criticize the idea I have, come up with something better.

Number 5 at point 17:45 combined with the LFG system propsed in Point 3. That’s my suggested solution for this problem in detail.
Do note however I’d recommend the “gold loot” chest be upped to a 3 day CD under this system though.
Don’t be so quick to dismiss him guys. Following world timers isn’t exactly a good system. I’m certin if you didn’t have your Dragon Timers you’d be a lot less quick to dismiss his proposal.
However if the system proposed in the video was not implimented there would still need to be a ‘cooling off’ period between boss kills or it would really get out of hand.
Respawn window should be increased to 2-10 hours, making the event appear from 2 to 12 times per day. People don’t get the point. I’m sorry but you aren’t supposed to farm these events, the increased loot rewards were implemented so that people would participate once the event has been initiated, not camp in the zone for 30 minutes and get a lousy yellow drop.

I don’t even care about loot. I just like how awesome the fight is. Demonic screaming giant monster, with the camera zooming out dynamically, and your BossBattle music playing.
Champions never try to be this cool. They just play ordinary music and do too much white damage.

Farm?
You only get the chest from them once a day now.

Really, stand in one place and auto-attack with absolutely no chance to ever fail is your idea of ‘awesome’?

Par for the course in a 1-15 zone.
I made it clear I appreciate it from a technical standpoint. They did a giant monster fight in a cool looking way. Compare to a video of, say, Onyxia, with the camera scrolled out to infinity, so she doesn’t even look giant, being covered in spell effects and numbersr.

how, exactly, do you know how his battles go, and what do you gain by ruining his happy memories. arent you wasting your time trying to convince other people that the way you feel about something is the way it was meant to be felt?
i for one think a modified version of this idea would work nicely, like described previously.
i agree that actually having a countable timer on the events undermines the immersion. a living world doesnt do things on a timer basis, they happen on a “happening here, in this place that its happening, because it just so happens that it happens to be happening here and in this place” lmfao
My only real personal recommendation would be, if the timers remain, to actually put them somewhere in game instead of requiring players to go to a third party site. The biggest problem with the visible timers is that you never really know if they’re accurate or not because they require player input to reset them. It’s not like the timers are a mystery for most of the bosses (Maw still seems broken or off more often than not) so nothing’s really gained by pretending that they don’t exist by not acknowledging them in an official manner.
I do not want to farm these………. I want me and my friends that do it together, once a day to be able to get it done and over, on One toon. So we can get back to real life or move onto a dungeon run or dailies, with what little time I can apply to the game. Some nights I have to just say kitten the world boss, he isn’t gonna spawn in a time frame where I get to play. This is what this is about…being able to play with my time not playing with the world boss time and time again.
If you can think of nice little ways to abuse the proposed suggestion then that’s why I said make it better….Fix any problem you have with the idea or shut it.

Yeah I had thought if they were made into bounties types for guilds to get together for runs, then of course the cool down would be needed before the guild could get a respawn.
You got some good ideas on other points there too. Thanks for the link and making ideas that help instead of the typical troll statements.
Personally I think they should do away with the ‘regular’ timers. Make it completely random. If you’re logged in when the things spawn. great. If not, tough. At the moment, it’s just ridiculous.
Look at the behemoth for instance, half the server sits in the swamp waiting for it to spawn as soon as the timer gets close, just hoping that someone else will actually go and do the pre-events.
If you decide to go and do those ‘pre-events’, by the time you get back to the swamp, the thing is already half dead. It only lasts about three minutes, if that. A ‘world event’ should be a challenge – there’s no challenge when 50 lvl 80’s are camped around it.
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
these are some of the only chests that can drop useful loot, like precursors (or final rest, stupid staff doesn’t drop for me). ANet pretty much forces us to at least do those events once a day if we want to get an item we could never afford to buy (precursors, I know final rest is cheap on the tp).
the system limiting the guaranteed rare drop is good, imho they could even make the chest only appear once per day per account, but the senseless waiting they force on us is just stupid.
where exactly is the fun in waiting for 1h15 in a dead zone with nothing to do? I can’t do the dungeon there, because the claw might show up any second. I can’t go away too far, because the top-right zone info disappears. so I have to sit in a quarter of the map for over an hour idling around. great idea.
boss fights should be more regular (not more often), not constantly overlapping and with only short windows, up to max 15 minutes.
regarding the mechanics. yes they suck for most events. that has to be fixed anyway, doesn’t have to do anything with the forced waiting.
I still like the harathi event the most of them all, because for one it’s the only event chain where you really feel like in a battle, the boss is diverse (3 warbeasts, 2 hands, boss himself) and he doesn’t allow you to just stand in one location because he’s actually dangerous. and guess what, he doesn’t even need a timer, the event is pretty much constantly running. if you’re early, you can capture a few outosts until edwards gets his courage up ;-) you never have to stand around for more than a few minutes until at least something is happening.
imho a near perfect implementation for a worldboss.
Lol no. Needs to be the opposite, completely random world boss events, so camping becomes impossible

lol yes.
wow, great argument, right? so you don’t like doing the events. good for you, just don’t do them. don’t like the regularity of them? don’t look at the timers, and you’ll experience the events when they happen.
why do you feel the need to grief other players who want to do them? is there any argument you can offer except egoistical opinions? I see absolutely no value in making them even more randomized, except people playing less and less and just idling around. guess what message that ingrains into players minds? guild wars 2 is boring
Either remove them completely (thus no longer “farmable” for those that for some reason think this is a bad thing) or lower the cooldown on all of them to what maw and fire elemental used to be.
Having them on long timers basically just limits certain people from ever really having a chance to see them to combat whats essentially a non issue (people farming them for that 1 guaranteed rare+ a day) having them happen much more often not only lets casual people and people that don’t know about them to “stumble” across them but also allows those that want to “farm” to spread out across the day preventing it from becoming the entire server vs 1 boss and throwing people into overflow even if they weren’t AFTER the boss.
I made this thread back when the chest nerf was introduced to world bosses. Now since TEQ. and all the other world bosses have been buffed, I would like to reintroduce the suggestion for reconsideration and discussion.
