Don't rez me I'm AFK
Just don’t go AFK in a combat zone, simple. Though I am in favor of adding a way to mark your absence. I’d suggest adding an AFK-status in guild menu and friends list. Anyway, this has no priority and your argument can only be blamed on yourself. Make sure you are in a safe-zone before leaving your character undefended
It is also a good idea to make character perform some gestures or change a pose (sit or sleep) when the player AFK for some time.

No, not simple anyone who thinks it’s simple hasn’t thought about it or is just plain stupid. In the real world things happen and you might need to go afk and you may not be able to find a safe area to do it.
As an example, I’ve been in combat and the doorbell has rung. I have walked away from the keyboard and allowed my character to die (hence the reason why I asked for something quick and easy to invoke) as I belived at the time it was unreasonable to make whomever was at the door wait while I finished the combat and moved myself to somewhere safe. I was at the door for a while, and took a bio break on the way back to the PC, only to find that my character was now partially naked from the multiple rezzes and deaths.
It would be nice to think that you could deal with real world issues in a reasonable manner without it having an unreasonable effect on you in-game.
Okay, I get your frustration but your example seems rather an exception to me. It’s not like your doorbell rings every 10 minutes, right? I would at least try to teleport to the nearest waypoint before letting my character deliberately die (+ as long as I’m in combat lots may happen before I leave my pc, to be honest…).
DrWho made a good point, I think I’ve seen that in other mmo’s as well. You could also add <AFK> behind your player name. An effect that could be triggered after, for example, 10 minutes of inactivity.
But to come back to your argument and actually solve your problem there’d have to be a ‘no resurrect’-effect + a hotkey to enable your AFK-mode. ’Cause having an indication of being away from keyboard is not enough to prevent childish players from still resurrecting you thus leaving you naked in the wild.

I guess they can put a “don’t rez me” icon above your head… but that’s asking for too much I think. Simply wp your way back to a safe zone, or log out, takes a sec to do that.
And isn’t there a “I’m away” status on the friends window?

You cannot WP during combat, and logging out in combat is instant death anyway since the last update
But I thought you didn’t mind been dead, as long as nobody rezes you. So wouldn’t logging out be your solution? You will be dead and nobody can rez you then. lol
As the person doing the rezzing, I’d really appreciate a feature like this. I feel like a dick when I revive someone only to realize they’re AFK, and I only protect their vulnerably-abandoned bodies for so long before moving on to let them die again.
It would be such a brilliant idea if ArenaNet would design an /afk that would actually show AFK over you head so people would know. Every MMO I’ve ever played had this feature; it just seems strange for GW2 not to have it.
you know you can simply log out and log back in and youre still dead in the same area?

Press alt-f4 as you stand up from your chair. Then nobody will be able to revive you.
A simple fix for this would be to ask the player each time if they want to accept the rez.
Some sort of pop up button yes or no.
Tis only what you can do for all
Simple: ALT + F4.
Only notice if a person is afk in WvW and they keep getting wiped. And since going afk in a danger zone is dumb as a bag of hammers I keep rezzing them. The repair bill should be a lesson to them to move to a safe spot and not serve as a distraction to others with stuff to do. PvE, rez and move on. If you didn’t take a few seconds to run out of aggro range to WP and go afk? Not my prob.
This been up before… either alt-f4 or if have one more split second, click pvp menu and enter Heart of the Mists… you can return to the same spot once you’re back.

Will be even worse now that people need to rez a number of others each day for the dailies…
lunawisp was my peacebringer on City of Heroes – she lives on in memory as my gaming id.
This is not a game where one should be AFK.
Maps have limited capacity, so it’s way better if those who are not playing leave their slots in the map to people who would play.
A quick Alt+F4, or traveling to heart of the mists or the hall of monument would do fine.

Each map has at least one place where you’ll have more chances to find defeated allies around. One example is Thaumanova and the researchers lying around all over the place.
