A little suggestion/question for Anet;

Why does Anet always updates during EU primetime?… I’m a wvw player and Anet always shuts down wvw far before they bring out the patch. usually this means that wvw is down for over an hour, during wvw primetime… why?

My suggestion is very simple… take EU servers into account when a patch will be released and don’t release them during primetime…

All of the updates that come out irregularly are bug fixes.

Bug fixes take priority over WvW. Especially when those bugs are gamebreaking or relating to the most recently added content.

EU’s prime-time is like working day middle for US. It is natural they update it during their working schedule not after hours. In the same time they can test if the update is good.

They should update at midnight or so when most people are sleeping.

@OP: when there’s a major bug affecting huge fractions of the game’s population, when do you propose they release the fix? Although lots of people play WvW, it’s never the majority of people online.

This recent update affected a slew of bugs preventing people from gaining time-gated achievements in the SAB. Should ANet have told those in the EU that they can’t have the fix during their prime time, to avoid resetting WvW/EU?

Naturally it’s frustrating to be forced out of your favorite part of the game for 20-30 minutes. And, of course, ANet should do more to prevent introducing any serious bugs. But given that bugs will happen, it seems to me that ANet’s tried to balance when they release patches with regard to both the magnitude and the amount of impact of the bugs fixed. (They don’t always get it right, but I think they do most of the time.)

the US and EU servers are AFAIK separated, they could time the fix for EU earlier or later then the US version.

That is a good point i have thought of myself too, but seeing most of the bugs i see in the patch notes are not THAT problematic.

futher, there is a few other points i’m wondering;
why does wvw have to shut down so long before they actually release the patch (i understand this may be a technical thing), but why can’t they at least add a timer for wvw just like they have in pve? like ‘wvw will shut down in 15 minutes’. a few days ago we were at the inner of an enemy keep and we just got kicked out…

Since its always prime time for someone, then they might as well do it when it’s best for them. They certainly aren’t going to come in during the middle of the night to do it. Which means, they are going to do it during their workday.
