I spent 800 gems on the Salvage-o-Matic before Anet put in the tool tip. It has the same amount of chance to recover materials as a Basic Salvage Kit but you pay .52 copper less per salvage item. Anet should have told us this before they put it on the market.

I bought this item so I could salvage Blue and Green items for Essence of Luck. Most blue and some green items I have salvaged with the o-Matic doesn’t give me Essence of Luck. Unlike the Basic Salvage Kit which gives me Essence of Luck everytime green or blue.

I think this is a great buy, personally. My MF is at 84% and I only salvage greens and blues with this kit. Yesterday I ran the Frostgorge champ farm for 2 hrs and 15 min and salvaged my greens and blues as I acquired them. At the end of the run I came out with something close to 74 fine, less than 10 masters, and three rares (essence of luck) before I even got around to opening my champ bags.

It’s been stated that the quality of the kit used does not effect the luck drop rate.

Additionally, I love the bag space it clears up and the fact that I don’t have to keep extra kits or have to go to a vendor for more when I’m on long dungeon/fractal runs or champ farming.

ANet clearly stated that the salvage-o-matic has the same stats than the smallest salvage kit. If you can’t read …
ANet also clearly stated that the chance on Essences of Luck does not depend on the used Salvage kit. If you want materials and sigils, use another kit, but the gem version is just made for MF salvaging.

I think it’s a pretty good deal actually. It’s still a convenience item so in the end you’ll be hard pressed to break even on it, but it’s account bound instead of soul bound so you can pass it along. It’s a very nice tool to salvage all the fine and masterworks in your inventory on the go, then deposit the materials. Saved my a lot of merchant visits so far.

Do your research before trying to spread misleading information.

I’ve salvaged (with basic salvage kits) upwards of 70,000 blues/greens since the luck patch, probably way more. Blues and greens DO NOT ALWAYS give luck when salvaged.

It is not dependent on the kit used.

I bought it for this exact reason. I only buy basic salvage kits. since I only salvaged salvage items. If I was going to salvage an item it would have to be rare or exotic level 70+ so I could get ectos, and I only use BL salvage kits for those, since I’m constantly getting them. I’ve never bought a BL kit and yet I’ve never been without one since the beginning of the game.

Now with blue and greens giving luck I use it even more so not having to constantly buy new salvage kits is great, plus the insignificant savings are still savings. What are coppers is not pennies to save and therefore earn.
