We all know thats not going to happen. I wish it would but it wont be removed. I do agree that it is way too effective then it should be. Heres a few suggestions:
-Half the hp
40Khp is a little rediculous no?
-Half the dmg
-Reduce the revive/healing of a downed player to one quarter the current effectiveness
How can 1 person ressing out heal 1 peron doing dps?
-Remove the 1 second invulnerable time when you take somebody to the downed
state
-keep conditions (Why do they get a cleanse all condtions just cause they are in the downed state)

That was the idea, to make it where when you kill someone they actually die and don’t lay on the ground fighting you for 30 seconds. Not realistic, fun, or even logical. And yea, PvP only, PvE downed state is fine imo. It just feels wildly out of place in WvW

Yea agree there would be no point in penalizing the player once they are revived it just makes them useless and no-one would revive them, you may as well just remove downed from the game if that was implemented.

The idea is to making death more of a penelty. Why am i at 100% potential (minus my cooldowns that were used recently) right after i get ressed or rally?

Yea having to kill someone twice was not the fix he was asking for. Even with the reduction, You are still killing the same person nearly 3 times.

I understand the point and agree with the premise but a 50% reduction in stats would be silly. You might as well just die. My point was don’t reduce stats but make it easier to kill someone in the downed state. That way if it is a close fight they still have a chance to rally but a harder time being rezzed while downed or fighting for a long time while downed.

I understand the point and agree with the premise but a 50% reduction in stats would be silly. You might as well just die. My point was don’t reduce stats but make it easier to kill someone in the downed state. That way if it is a close fight they still have a chance to rally but a harder time being rezzed while downed or fighting for a long time while downed.
Im a big fan of a death penelty. If you possition yourself poorly or dont use your cooldowns properly and you die tough bananas. Think befor you act next time. I would love to have both of these ideas implemented. But thats not how lot of people enjoy pvp/wvw.
Right now the majority of players like to run in large groups (20+) (I said majority not all many do love the smallman action). Do you think they would rather die 2X faster or more while downed, be completly out of hte fight and then potentially have to run all the way back to the group from spawn? OR be ressed and just less effective for 30seconds, 1min, 2min whatever it would be.

Maybe I am just missing something so I will give you my assumptions on what I think your talking about
40k health
- are you talking about someone has 40k health, I have yet to even see that, I know it is possible but lets face it how many people run around with 40k health in stacking all vitality? 1 out of a few thousand?
- I know there is no way 40k health is possible in the downed state

Also the downed state is just fine, if you don’t like it that much stop playing the game it is not going anywhere. I am starting to think people will complain about anything just for the sake of complaining.

I did, and according to the Wiki the downed state has a set amount per a profession, I could have missed it ( I am human and I am willing to retract my statement ). Although I would like to see your indefinite proof that someone has 40k health in downed state. Please link your source from a reputable source ( like the guildwars main page, the guildwars2 wiki, or guildwarsguru. As they are the only confirmed supported information sites for arena Net and guild wars 2)
I mean like I said I could be wrong, and I am willing to accept that, I just want something other than because you say so.
- Being in downed mode means that your character can not use skills, their profession mechanics, dodge or even move. These effects of being downed are accompanied by visual effects like fading, blood-tinted vision and your character falling to the ground. If you were being attacked by a nearby enemy when you were downed, they will probably continue to do so since you can no longer move or dodge. However, you are not completely defenseless yet, and so may get your chance to rally and continue the fight. Each time you are downed will incur one point downed penalty which will reduce your downed mode health by 25% and each point will last for one minute. When you have been downed five times within one minute you will be automatically defeated without the chance to fight back.
That indicates right there that your health and your downed state share no correlation.

Have ur pal res u and count the ticks of 1k hp befor your alive. remember that ur at approximatly 60% of ur health bar when downed.

Well to start with you made an incorrect statement of someone in down state having 40k health ( which is not true ) So I asked you to reference your source of legitimacy, you couldn’t, then claim you knew because of when you res. I posted the rules of downed state which again contradicted your proposal.
Now you want relevance to the topic at hand?
Fine as the rules state right now adding a 50% debuff to the 5 times your dead rule would make the mechanic not work as it should. Since every time you are downed you take a 25% decrease in Downed State Health which makes it harder to come back from these are the relevance to the topic at hand.

How about copying the penalty system from GW1?
-15% HP, everytime you get into downstate plus an internal cooldown to avoid getting revived and spiked instantly down again. Overtime you loose the penalty like, every 20 secs +1% or every 5 creatures you kill +1%.
I dont know how much HP downed state has, but I am fairly sure its either identical or higher than when you’re up. Especially if you take the food which give you double downed HP. My Warrior has 30K HP when alive and when downed I’ve seen 5 people bash on me for what seems like forever, lol. Estimating 40K doesnt seem so strange. If its the same HP as when you’re alive, I could get 60K downed HP with food. Being a tank on your back would be… weird :p
The downed penalty only applies to the downed state itself. You dont have any penalty after being revived back to live.
The problem in WvW is that reviving is much easier than killing a downed player. 5 players revive 1 downed player in like no time. At the same time 5 enemies need much longer to actually kill a downed player due to the massive HP in downed state.
I cannot agree more with the OP: there should be real drawbacks to getting downed + revived in WvW.
The more you outman your opponents to more you profit from reviving.

Some professions get more than 40K health in the downed state. You have no idea what you’re talking about.
Downed penalty is not what I asked for. I want 50% stats reduction. Which part of that was unclear? Sheesh..
Too many things are designed around it, like the ridiculous white damage of champions and dungeon bosses.
I’m so glad they got rid of that ridiculous death penalty from gw1.
