I fully agree with an “End it” skill, and believe it should be treated exactly as being defeated would, complete with all the consequences that would arise as a result of being defeated.

I used to down ppl outside capture points in tournaments and just watch them and let their own dignity demand them to heal themselves and take vengeance, just so I could hit them right before they rally and watch them lying there helpless and out of the game for minutes while I was guarding the capture point.

in a recent hot join non arena spvp game, i was assaulting their base by myself, a thief tried to stop me, i put him down, finished him off, he came back after i killed the 2 soldiers, i downed him and then left him there while i went to kill the 2 casters, he was healing up, i popped a few arrows to keep him down while i went to finish off their guild lord.

I was abusing the enemies downed states, if a system can be abused the system is incomplete and what’s incomplete needs to be completed.

i would call this abusing, but playing the game as intended.

“End it” sounds a bit brutal, I’d rather prefer “Give in”, like when someone lies on the deathbed giving up and letting the life sip away without fighting against it.
And it should of course reward the downtaker as well and rally etc. if someone wants to die and respawn with downed enemies nearby it could be seen as a skill issue.
Also I think the skill should be available after 6+ seconds allowing the enemy to perform a successful stomp.

there is already a give in function, it is called not using the self healing skill.

Also rally needs an internal cooldown.

rally already has an internal cool down, you can only rally a few times before you immediately enter the defeated stated and not the downed state.

EDIT2: After reading some of the newer posts, I think completely preventing lootbags and xp is a little too much. However, suicide can put an added challenge in killing downed players so I’ll propose a penalty of 50% xp for suicides instead.

Why should i get no (or only half) loot and XP because the enemy give up the fight?
That doesn’t make any sense. I was able to get him downed and probably survived with few hundred hp. And just because he suicides I get less reward?
And that all just because i didn’t finished the enemy within 2 seconds? I mean you need that time to walk to the enemy if you play a ranged char. Then there is the fact that skill 2 can interrupt you (if you don’t have stability or use stealth). So If some one gets managed to finish the enemy within this time the enemy was AFK.

And the guy that suicides doesn’t get any penalty for doing so? I mean he gave up the fight, he could have tried to rally but he gave up …

I see a small chance in PvE there are some situations where you don’t want to lie around but even there life with it. It only takes 5 seconds to die.

And speaking of PvP it can be helpful to keep a player downed as long as possible, because then you have a 5vs4 situation. With this mechanic that won’t work anymore.

So a -1 from me.

Can’t we just get rid of the STOOOOOPID downed system altogether and instead of dying in 2 hits from a practically anything maybe make us MORE DURABLE to begin with!

I can see it being useful in PvE, there are times when you know you’re going to die, you’re alone being attacked by several npcs and just want to get it over with. PvP and WvW is obviously different, but it can easily be implemented in PvE with limited impact I suspect.
