I’m sure there are not a lot of us users that play mostly on metered connections. But as I’m never home due to work and play mostly on 4G through my phone which works amazingly well, I have noticed a key feature missing on the update screen. Files to download are there but no size estimate so I have no idea if I need to wait till I can get to a public WiFi to update or if I can spare the bandwidth on my mobile hotspot. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope that this can be addressed in a future patch.

I second this for a completely different reason. I have a 1Mb connection which is perfectly fine for game play, but will take some time to download large updates. If the file size was know I could gauge when I need to return to my computer. e.g. 128 MB = about 16 minutes to finish.

I’m on wireless as well and have a very small “allocation”. I like to plan my usage. Not knowing how much is going to be downloaded is a bummer and not the kind of surprise I like. :p

Please add this!

I think that was kind of weird, especially in GW1 when I would come back after months of playing and re-installing the game will show that I have to download 36k+ files but never know how big that is. Hopefully they add download size to the update screen.

That is another very good point it would be nice to know helps people know how long they will have to wait to get back into the game.

Currently downloading the new Wintersday update. 126MB in and only at 1%. Lets hope this isn’t a 12 Gigabyte update. Please make this fix!

A guild mate informed me the download size is about 470 MB, ~1 hour to download. Be back in 1 hour

I never post in forums, but I came here specifically to make this suggestion. PLEASE add this feature.

I completely second that. It would go a long way if they could simply calculate the percentage based on size remaining to download rather than number of files. Even better, show the total size of the patch.

Yes, good points. As soon as GW2 was launched I hoped they could add this option for the next update. The “downloaded” size is funny and useful in a way but the whole update’s size and the remaining time is better.

Also, the percentage should be representative of the downloaded files’ size, and not of the amount of them that is already known by “remaining files” or something. Thank you !

I was quite happy when on this page “http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates” the last patch note stated it was about 155MB in size.

It has since been removed for some reason. That’ll do until/if they let the launcher show download MB remaining. Or just add the size when they post the patch notes here “https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news”.
