The reason why dual-professions were taken out of GW1 was because of the problem wher the best X was actually a Y.

- The best ritualist was a necromancer (N/Rt healer)
- The best prot monk was an elementalist (E/Mo with Ether Renewal)
- The best blood necromancer was a ranger (R/N touch ranger)
- The best barrage ranger was an assassin (A/R crit barrage)

That was mostly because of the primary attribute working on secondary profession skills. However the current primary attributes only work for profession mechanics which limits the overpoweredness of these on secondary professions. It also lead to nerfing of professions for reasons that had nothing to do with said character.

Many players ask for more weapon skills, but I think the current weapon system is very robust. My suggestion is as follows:

- Only utility/elite/healing/skills can be from the secondary profession.

That would lead to far greater build diversity while still putting the focus on the main profession. It is the main profession that decides traits, weapons and therefor main build direction.

If I can’t play Guild Wars 2 at work, I won’t work in Guild Wars 2 either.

That would be cute, and potentially fun, if a little hard to balance, but I wouldn’t expect to see it for a long time, if ever. You might want to bold the “- Only utility/elite/healing/skills can be from the secondary profession.” as I’m not sure that all replying will read the post carefully (despite it being very concise!).

Also you may want, if possible, to edit the title to “A suggestion for dual professions” or the like. Whilst I like your suggestion, the title rather seems to imply an official source has stated this, and that doesn’t seem to be the case.

The classes really need more content, but personally, I would prefer the do something else besides multiclassing. Even with the limitations you’ve stated it would still cause the same problem to a lesser extent. Not to mention the extra problem of bleeding playtypes.

For example. The ele has absolutely no combo finishers or fields among their utility skills, because they average 3-5 per weapon set. If this happens, the best Eles will become Guardian Eles, because now you can lay down two more fire fields and a light field from guardian utility skills.

Good idea but I think it would make some classes more broken.
It would just be warriors as the main class and the utilities of others classes.
I already know I would create a warrior with the utilities of a guardian to be OP.

Current class skills don’t look like they were designed for this. Would be an absolute nightmare to balance.

Not going to happen imo.
