Well we all know we can have 2 weapons at the same time , but we do not have dual wield. For example if a thief has 2 daggers equipped , the first skill will only attack with 1 dagger , shouldn’t it use both weapons its only about looks and “sword play” , having a warrior running around with two swords….and only attack with one…does not gives the impression of dual wielding or dual swords…the secondary weapon is so rarely used cause skills got long cd ..it looks like a background character in a story..he has 2 lines and we barely see him…my idea was that if a character has two weapons …the first skill animations should include both weapons being used to attack rather then just one….

While it does look a little odd if you’re dual-wielding daggers, I’m not sure it would practical to implement the animations for this. For every skill that they want to add hand-mixing to, they’d basically have to do a new animation for it that uses both hands, which would only play when weapons of the same type are equipped in both hands. (Since you wouldn’t want to accidentally stab with a pistol.) Then code would have to be written to enable the multiple animations and determine which animation to play when the skill is used.

It’s not the greatest technical and artistic challenge ever faced by any stretch, but it’s not a very high priority, either.

First off, i too, would love to see this. As i wanna feel and look like i’m dual wielding.

Anyway, on one hand, and from a realistic standpoint, they did it right. As far as i know, real life dual wielders (what little there is) mostly (or only) use the one on their right hand to attack, and the other weapon for parrying. And again as far as i know, constant use of the non dominant hand for attacking will or may cause the user to lose balance. I think the only weapon with which you can use both hands at the same time are katars. As the technique involved is akin to fist fighting.

But on the other hand, this is a fantasy game, so you can throw all that out the window. I’m no expert but it’s probably not hard, since they only share the same animation when idle. Most of them have a different animation when a corresponding skill is used.

But alas, the odds of this happening are slim to none. Cause as Redenaz said, it’s not a very high priority issue. I doubt Anet will put the manpower and resources on such a small issue.

P.S.
While we’re talking about animations, the male sword auto attack animation feels a bit stiff. Hopefully a change will come.

yeah i have to agree with Redenaz too …sadly….but maybe in the future when they have finished all the stuff that has priority..they might work on the small stuff so i the more suggestions the better right ?

Agreeing with Martellus on the realistic factor. I do semi-competitive weapon combat (fencing, dueling, etc.) and I rarely use my left hand offensively. Maybe for a quick combo, or a disarming parry, but not normally.

On a side note: dual-dagger on an Asuran Necro animates perfectly

EDIT: Added the fact I meant Asuran Necro, not just any Necro
