Perhaps this is topic is more appropriate for the game improvement section but well here goes nothing because i didn’t find any similar topic or I’m just blind or didn’t look hard enough.

So this issue has been bugging the hell out of me from day one. Why would you be able to wield weapons in both hands and for the majority of the time just swing your main hand weapon.

I think it should be adressed this way: you have the 1,2,3,4 and 5 weapon skills and the 3 first are for your main hand weapon (except thieves) and the 2 last for your offhand so just change the 1st weapon skill to swing the two weapons that you are wielding not necessarily at the same time but like the offhand is doing something rather than just holding the weapon and you could just leave the 2-5 skills as they are so that there would be 2 skills for each weapon.

At least this is my opinnion on how it should be done :P

So wait, are you asking for them to simply alter the animations? Even with just the animations, there are some weapon combinations that would be troublesome. For example, anything coupled with a shield. Similarly, anything coupled with a pistol would cause some funky sights.

Also, even if they managed to do that in a good way, it would only be a stopping point, because the next obvious thing is to ask for the damage of your off-hand weapon to affect the skills on your main-hand and vice versa. And that would require a crapton of balancing.

Heck, we already have complaints about two-handed weapons only getting one upgrade slot whereas dual-wielding single-handed ones gets you two.

I was referring mainly to dual wielding melee weapons because yes if there is a shield as offhand there is no need to alter the animation or skill or whit a pistol including focus too

I think that covers all combinations that would make sense. I think it would be cool if, like a thiefs power 3, all weapon combos (or at least these) changes the auto attack power to accomodate the two weapons. So a rogue with dagger/dagger the first attack would be main hand, the second attack would be off hand and the third would be main again. Under these circumstance I think shield would work just fine too. I could see a Guardian with Mace/Shield hit twice with the Mace then slam forward with the shield causing the regen circle.

I had done combos for scepter, but I took them out. I think this should only be flavor for melee and scepter isn’t melee. That’s why I have Axe/Dagger and Axe/Torch question marked, cause I think those only exist for Ranger and Necro and in both those cases Axe is ranged.
