Time is a river.
The door is ajar.
So you want to get rid of the torch event…because you can’t do it?
No I think I have placed in enough hours now, to gain my reward.
I say It was a bad idea, to leave it as the only option, The daily should of had
2 or 3 more add on’s to allow options. But due to the time spent on all the
missions, I find it a total loss for people not able to do this one event.
Complete achievements from either this category or Jubilee dailies.
I’m pretty sure doing the Jubilee Daily adds to the Meta, meaning doing 16 days worth of Dailies can net you the mini (or the other Achievements and make the rest up with Dailies), meaning you don’t need to do the torch run.

People asked for the same of the infamous Clocktower.

I’m just struggling to figure out the mentality that players feel like they’re entitled to these rewards and that rules should be altered for them.
invested time does not result in a reward if the time wasn’t invested well.
So even if you spend hours doing it, you don’t get your reward until you are successful.
I’ve been trying liadri for hours without success, should I demand the achievement now or what?
Don’t give up. You still have plenty of time. Reanalyze your routes and make the necessary adjustments.
Also don’t stop to light up the fires, just run past them while hammering F.
Helpful tip:
You can talk to one of the speed buff npcs in town and get the swiftness buff from them.
I don’t think it was patched or anything so you can use that to help you make the torch runs.
Hope this helps out
Dulfy.net has a guide with routes for the runs. It’s super easy I don’t understand how you’re having that much trouble with it.
Get a friend to speed buff you, I was able to use Retreat before I talked to the npc and was keep haste up at the start of the run.
Step 1. Walk the route beforehand, figure out what will be the most efficient way of doing it. This was the most fun part for me. With no time constraints you are free to take it easy, much more fun than trying to do it “on the fly” so to speak. If there’s a tricky bit (the jump in the arboretum can be a source of delay) then this gives you the chance to practice.
Step 2. Get a speed buff from one of the nearby shrines. The divine buffs last about 3 minutes which is quite long enough to get to the course and finish it … even if you have to use a waypoint. I discovered this just before my last run, things would have been so much simpler had I thought about it beforehand.
Following these two steps will pretty much guarantee success at any of the routes. Also don’t forget to look at your mini-map during the run to see if there are any torches you missed in your initial walkthrough that might mean a re-evaluation of your route.
