Pet Types & Reasoning

Ascalonian Catacombs
Ghastly Black Bear
Would be the black bear model done in the ascalon ghost style of semi transparent blue. This would be a reference to the pre-searing community in Guild Wars 1. The Black Bear was a pet that a lot of pre-searing players tried to capture (wasn’t easy to do.)

Twilight Arbor
Nightmare Pup
We have a snow wolf, wolf. Polar Bear, Bear. about two of everything except for the sylvari hound. Nightmare Pup would make more sense then a nightmare hound. As a pup, you can teach it to be more friendly since it is so young unlike the hound. + Who doesn’t want to be part of the nightmare court? or pretend to be at least….

Orrian Gorilla
Everyone who has gone to Arah has secretly wished they could kidnap the Gorilla’s and make them their minions with how brutally strong they are. Here’s your chance.

Caudecus’s Manor
Krytan Shepard.
A recolor of a German Shepard. This dungeon was a little harder to think of a pet for… there isn’t really another normal domestic k9 to compliment the hound. Sylvari hound is a plant, the two wolves are the ancestors of it… so think this would round it. + German Shepards are used as guard/police dogs so not too far of a stretch.

Yes i said Penguin…. Yes i know polar bears and Penguins don’t live together but can you imagine the “D’awwwwwwwww” spam from the female gamers?

Crucible of Eternity
Killer Whale 2.0
They have an underwater lab (semi related to dungeon) and they are always trying to re-perfect everything. The skin for it would be a killer whale done in a cyborgish style with asura tech.

Molten Armored Saurus
Armored Saurus are from Guild Wars 1 and were popular siege animals, Citadels motto as of late is pretty much “More Fire” so why not make it molten o.O?

A Nightmare hound is just a Sylvan Hound that’s fallen into nightmare. I don’t really think the difference warrants enough for it to become a pet.
I do like the idea of there being pets that spawn/only spawn in dungeons though! It’ll make it something interesting for Rangers to hunt down during a run! There could even be All-Ranger runs for people that solely want to enter a dungeon for a pet!

Fair enough but couldn’t the same be said with Moas and spiders?

No because they have completely different features that define them.

If you mean stat wise then all we have to do is just modify the skills of the nightmare pup. If you mean skin wise then I have to disagree, with very very very slight changes to the beaks the rest are just recolored feathers.

If anet introduced a custom skin for the Recluses I would have suggested those as the T.A. pet but at the moment, they use the exact same skin as the black widow.

The Sylvari Hound and Nightmare Pup us similar model of skin; however, the texture and colors are different and the nightmare pup is more sharp around the edges.

It would be like comparing the snow wolf and the wolf or the White Raven and Raven.

Yes to more pets. No to the proposed method. Just completing all 4 paths once should be enough.

Well since they added mining to the newest dungeon, don’t see why they couldn’t add other open world stuff to dungeons, like pets (put it behind some optional boss) I wouldn’t mind doing an unorthodox run to help out the rangers in my guild.

Yes as long as they bring useful stuff to the table, as it is now about half the pets are utter useless and really have little use compared to the other half..

since the topic is about dungeon pets, can you please group those pets you listed into dungeons please?

It seems like a nice idea but there seem to be plenty of players who complain about going into a dungeon just once for the living story. They’ll complain bitterly about not getting these animals if they don’t do dungeons. Other players will complain that they need to get more barter coins to fully equip a ranger than they do for other classes. In other words, players will feel entitled to any new pets and complain if they have to do any work for them.

wouldn’t that be the same crowd of people who complain about taking their clothes off to have sex, or complain about going to the bank to cash their pay check o.O

As a cosmetic, YES! I’d love to feel like my pet is unique and not some rip off of some super hero build everyone else is running (even if it only looks different).

I would think For AC a Ghastly Moss Spider, They became instinct during the searing so it would kind of fit.
