Dungeon Queuing - No more LFG! [Merged]
How about the “stand in the main city while waiting for Q to pop” phenomenon that made WoW’s continents completely empty?
It makes the game less of a world and more of a fancy lobby.
I just wanted a AAA MMO with no sub made by ArenaNet. And it’s awesome.”

Ok sure. Explain how this differs than standing around a dungeons entrance typing LFG all day?
Same. Exact. Thing.
How about it is an option when trying to enter a dungeon. You would check an auto party option for example.
All I am saying is waiting around for a group to do a dungeon (especially Arah) is not fun at all.
Just as we can Queue up for a sPVP match, we should be able to do this for the dungeons.
I just think it is the most friendly option and waiting around stinks… we can all agree on that.
If you disagree, please explain how it would ‘ruin’ the game. Social reasons, RP reasons don’t hold a lot of water with me, but feel free to go that route if you would like.
I agree completely.
Simply make a LFG button that pops a window similar to sPvP one and shows current teams, with the description of content they’re going to play.
NO… I absolutely do not want a dungeon queue system. Absolutely not. I don’t want this to turn into a dungeon lobby game where everyone afks waiting to be paired automatically with other random people.
I don’t care what arguments hold water with you… social aspects are important to the culture of an mmo. Manual grouping is important to create interaction between players… we already have enough of them that refuse to speak in party chat and collaborate. It would only get worse if they don’t have to actively request to join your party. Being expected to use a tool that takes all the interaction out of grouping will only further deprecate team tactics in favor of more idiotic “zerker damaj pwnage just for me and no team utility” builds. Not to mention it further alienates players from each other, leading to even less civil behavior.

So how do you finish a dungeon if there will be 5 random glassy players with no support or heal or cc just full p\p\c rare gear?
LFG system requires strict roles which we dont have in this game.

Same way as you do, just a bit faster :P
Or as most people would be running magic find gear probably considerably slower.
TBH not a fan of the idea, Anet should definitely get us proper LFG tools instead of having to rely on gw2lfg.com, but i wouldn’t want it to be automated. It’s good to have the option to get a balanced party going, or having the option to avoid running with a certain player for whatever reason you may choose,

It’s the same as it is now…. people wait around and type LFG all day. Perhaps if I got my dungeon run done faster (due to not having to sit around) then I would join the rest of the population in WvW or PvE a lot faster. Did you think of that? Also, after people have run a dungeon enough… they already know how to do it. I never have to explain CoF P1 to anyone (for example)
I think you are splitting hairs here. My point is I’m sick of sitting around to play a dungeon. Let me play!

Why are you waiting around? You can get a party going with gw2lfg in minutes.
It always surprises me that people stand around using map chat when a post on gw2lfg.com will get you a party in about 5 minutes. Usually less if you take the initiative to actually invite people to the party.
- I never knew about gw2lfg
- a simple queue up system that auto connects would be simple to use and quicker.
In a dynamic open world events game with no need for party, the dungeons seem to be just a relic from the past MMOs. The best dungeon in this game since now was the Toypocalipse. People could join and take part in it at anytime and for unlimited number of times with random parties. Make this an option for the dungeons and all players will be fine with no need of LFG tool. Those who want to go with party can go with it, those who don’t want /have one will be paired on spot
You probably are the same types that complained when you found out you could queue in sPvP and WvW.
I think people with those concerns were proven wrong.

I dont play sPvP or WvW. I am not interested in this masquerade that promotes war acceptance amongst young people. I don’t care if it is queued or not as long as I see it only as a free violence between people of all ages under the concept of “competition”

What?
It’s a videogame. Whether it promotes violence or promotes jumping on walking fictional mushroom people, it is fiction.
You spent 60 dollars on a game to a studio that ‘promotes violence’ so it sounds like you pick and choose what your beliefs are at a whim.
Giving a studio that ‘promotes violence’ (which you technically did) is far worse than partaking in a MMO event.
That is like a vegetarian donating funds to USDA Beef farmers.
This seems to be such a 50/50 split between wanting a queuing system to not wanting one. I for one kind of see it as a good idea, as a casual player I do want to get into a dungeon quickly. However from a more hardcore player’s point of view I get that you want to form your own group by using the chat system
I’d say introduce a queue system but if you use that the dungeon is a bit easier and the rewards are not as good. If you assemble your own team and run the dungeon the rewards are better. Kind of like the ‘Looking for Raid’ tool in wow

I do understand it from both ends as well, but at the same time waiting for a dungeon run is a pain. I have a very active guild and they may be running FotM for example… I might want to run Arah.
I really think that dungeon LFG is too old school for me. It isn’t fun to wait. Do I have to? No! If I want the gear for a dungeon, I am sure that ArenaNet would agree it isn’t ‘fun’ sitting around waiting to get in a dungeon group. It is wasted time I could be in PvE events or WvW.
As far as those who complain about turning the game into a lobby, then why not only allow queuing at the dungeon doors? Everyone is sitting there anyways.
Id rather spend an hour running dungeons than sitting and waiting for a group to open up.
My two cents.

I like this idea, as you said everyone is just outside anyway!
Save the social interaction for the town. The you can wear your party clothes and show off your min pet too. I would much prefer if people aren’t chatting in the party window while i’m trying to do a dungeon. Draw on the map, target something, but please don’t ask me how my day was, what my facebook or sype acts are.
I would prefer a party finding tool with the ability to filter on builds and experience, but a queing system would be worlds better than what we have now.
The dungeon finder in WoW was nice but it killed the open world by not adding equal or better rewards in the open world. Dungeons are the be-all-end-all of that game.
A dungeon finder should be implemented with extremely good, on par or better, rewards in the open world.

Good idea, especially if your party joins the que with you.
I tried out gw2lfg.com last night and I have to say it was pretty useful. I was usually able to refresh the site and join a group in a speedy manner.
I recommend it to others until ArenaNet comes up with a better format.
Better yet, Anet should purchase or partner up with GW2LFG.com and incorporate their menu into the game. It is idle, since you don’t have to mess with it and people will see it no matter where you go. Cities are empty already, just a bunch of ppl dancing holding costume brawls and talking conspiracies. Go to hoelbrak and try finding someone who isn’t below level 20.
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”

I’m not saying your idea is bad, but I don’t think adding a twitteresque chat posting system in game would be the most resourceful thing they could do when they could just as likely add an auto pairing system. Auto pair (auto queue) would be a lot faster.
I think that Anet should pay gw2lfg.com to use their system in game. Then we have the best of both worlds. We don’t have the giant ‘AFK lobby’ that everyone seems to hate, and we do have a working system that allows people to find a group for a specific dungeon quickly. We don’t necessarily need auto party or auto teleporting to dungeons, but we do need a better way to get a group than tabbing out to a website all the time.

Faster does not equal better. GW2LFG trumps the WoW dungeon finder in all respects. It is a good thing if peopel are required to put effort into joining a dungeon, even if it’s as small as going to gw2lfg.com.

I played in many a ‘noob’ parties using that site last night. I don’t see why you shouldn’t be able to choose a dungeon and path and hit a join button and be autopaired.
Are you one of the site owners or something? lol.
I believe , since the developers have said this is something they are actively trying to implement, Anet is going to roll out a system very comparable to gw2lfg.com
A menu lobby system that allows groups to be posted, with details of what content they want to do and who is in the group (to allow room for community reputation etc). That way would mean everytime you wanna pop in a dungeon, fractal or farm group it would be a few clicks and whispers away.
Of course, they could make partys joinable from the menu which would ease the process up even more. However, pure dungeon players will be hardly in the open world at all…. but thats what they want so who are we to disagree?
I think for it to work perfectly it needs to be very fleshed out. You should be able to select ANY kind of activity thats available in the game as the groups target content. From keg brawl mini games to general karma/mob farming, if players can post groups for anything in the game…. That way it would promote community and co-operation as much as possible.

Very, very, very well put

I agree… more of a overall activity/ Party finder.
Hi,
I have few improvements to the game in mind
1) Allow putting yourself to queue (across servers) for dungeon party, like you can do with free pvp tournaments. The queuing for free pvp tournaments works really well, and you usually find the games quick and painlessly. In the same way you could invite your current party and find the remaining people trough the dungeon queue system. Sitting in LA and shouting after dungeon parties is the most boring thing in the game, and many times it takes hours to find a group, if you manage to find one at all.
2) Make it possible to salvage unnecessary ascended rings. I bet many have collected tons of unnecessary ascended rings, filling up all the storage space, because nothing can be done with them yet. Give people a chance to salvage them for example.
3) Make a new “semi auto-targeting” option available to the options. I feel the normal auto-targeting works for the most parts really well, and using it feels good. When I want to evade from a fight using my skills, the regular auto-targeting is unusable. When I want to move away from the opponents using my movement skills, auto-targeting picks an opponent and brings me towards them.
I would make an targeting option available that would bring the best from both options, auto-targeting and manual targeting. The semi auto-targeting would NOT be targeting on enemies automatically when using MOVEMENT skills. On all the other skills it would work like normal auto-targeting. So if you have no enemy targeted, and you use some movement skill (trying to evade from the battle), it wouldn’t pick a target but let you move where you desire. By movement skills I mean the greatsword skill 5, dagger skill 4, bull rush etc.
4) The game could explain many of the stats and bonuses a lot better I think. Many of the things don’t quite open up to me in the accuracy I would hope. For example, I would like to see the exact damage many bonuses cause etc.. like the many of the sigils, sigil of fire and air etc. Its pretty normal that games give the exact numbers each bonuses are giving, explaining everything more accurate.
The recent update to hero’s stats page was welcome I think, but I would go even a bit further. I addition to overall better explaining of the system (in the game), I would like to see very important stats like damage per second (with your main attack, counting together the effects of your crit chance and crit damage bonus), some sort of effective health (health combined with the defense, if you have 20k hp and 50% damage absorption trough armor, your effective health would be 30k hp etc).
What do you guys think?
I like the que idea more than a LFG system. It reminds me of league of legends where u end up,paired up with random people and make friends. With dungeons being cross server this would also make even crucible of eternity easy to find a group for.
i wish they could turn dungeons in meta events (with same rewards we are used in dungeon, meaning tokens etc) but with the functionality of open world event where everybody can join. this would lead at non skipping content and no waiting at the entrance and no ragekick/ragequit
