Dungeon expl. unlock account wide
The thing is, story mode is there for a reason, and each character has a story they build.
I understand how it would be usable believe me, but at the same time, it would be like skipping a part of your story. I know that with the exception of Arah they aren’t necessary for quests, but there is a story behind story mode that actually plays into your whole storyline!
By taking new members through it, those characters are missing that…
Yes, brainfart on the new members part. I got that mixed up around in my head somehow thinking i wouldnt be able to open up storymode for them on a new alt. Bit tired while posting. Regardless the storymode missions don’t tie into any quest and even though it is a story most people are only interested in the explorable runs after the first time.
While the OP is contradicting himself a bit, I do see the demand for Story Mode to unlock Explorable Mode account-wide.
I think it would be a happy compromise if Story Mode also rewarded you with a small amount of the Exp. Mode currency if the character’s account has already unlocked Exp. mode.
As far as I’ve experienced (apologies if inaccurate), Dungeons’ Exp. Mode gives 60 tokens for the first run of the day through each of its routes.
- Repeating a route within 24 hours gets you 20 tokens.
- Doing Story Mode again a could reward an experienced user with 15 tokens
- Too little to be worth grinding
- But more then enough to motivate veterans to accompany newbies into Story Mode and not feel like they’re sacrificing their own time.
Note: No requirement to be running with a newbie, as some players may be sharing their account with a friend, sibling, spouse. I know it’s against the ToS, but people rarely listen and we don’t want to go alienating those people either.
Alternatively, we could have repeating Story Mode reward above-average Karma, Coin, etc..
- Lots of ways to add incentives.

Why not a veteran boost?
Veterans who choose to accompany someone who has not unlocked explorer mode get veteran tokens/person who has not unlocked exp mode for that dungeon. Veteran tokens can then be redeemed at the dungeon vendor of your choice for tokens for that dungeon on a 1:1 ratio. You could only play veteran 3 times a day.
Token scale:
4 newbies 6 tokens each= 24 tokens= 24 total tokens given
3 newbies 4 tokens each=12 tokens= 24 total tokens given
2 newbies 3 tokens each = 6 tokens = 18 total tokens given
1 newbie 3 tokens= 3 tokens. = 15 total tokens given
This means that they wont farm by dragging one newbie each time. Lets be honest difficulty increases with each newbie you add. And since you would be giving out tokens to each veteran, it makes sense that each vet would get less tokens the more of them there are.
It’s not a lot of tokens, so it wouldn’t be farm-able, but it would allow players to earn tokens towards the gear they want by helping 1st timers, regardless of the dungeon they are doing…
I agree that the real solution is to make story mode more appealing, but for the time being making story mode completion account wide sounds perfect.
I have to say I like the idea of making story mode more appealing or less punitive to someone who’s already done it to be a much better idea than giving people even less of a reason to play it.

Story Mode in dungeons is independent of personal stories in that it doesn’t help to move them along, so the dungeon story mode can feel a bit redundant in that regard.

..and this.
The latter being a real winner IMO. Players have no incentive to slog it through difficult encounters for the sake of unrewarding grinding.
