Dungeon run and Mob that two shot you
You’re not supposed to get hit much or solo them though. That’s why you dodge and have the support of a team.
Even with the support of a team getting wiped out. There is not dedicated healing class. I decked a guardian out as much as possible for healing to help making a group run live longer but even that seems useless when you get hit twice and your dead.
I am not looking to solo an instance I am looking for a fun run and after 5 or 6 wipes fun is gone and fustration sets in.

This , there is gear you must consider , build , tons of other things.
Dungeons were NOT meant to be an easy cake walk , while even now they are not that hard.
I am lvl 50 my gear is of level 50 (Yellow Rare) healing my spec is in in toughness vitality and healing. I have taken in the build gear aspec and still think the dungeons are way to hard for not having a dedicating healing class.
Dungeon Storymode is meant as a trial-by-fire to ease players into the explorableode mindset. Enemies are NOT a pushover and you need to work as a team. You are expected to go down, but
At least the dungons I find myself to be competent in (AC, TA, CoF, SE) I have gone through each path at least once without a single person dying (save for the really hard CoF path).
Here is the thing I play a ele Healer in all Yellows and I have no problem at all. She is level 38 and runs explorer AC just fine. I have a 80 guardian mitigation and control, since level 30 I have never been one shot or two shot ever.
We don’t need the WoW 30% nerf, people just need to learn how to desing and spec and trait their professions. Things hit hard really hard, but the point of the dungeon is not to face roll your keyboard like in others games and say “I win”. Team work is the key, and bringing in a Level 80 in exotics is only going to give you a slight advantage. And any Dev’s or Anet employee can correct me if I am wrong, But they stated that a 80 in best gear is not going to be better to have than a 35 in descent gear and knows what they are doing. That is why dungeons scale you down, this means health, stats, damage ect.
Perfect example of knowing your profession is CoF Exp path 2
At the end you have to keep mobs off Kabommian boy so he can’t plant the charges. There are two ways of doing this, either power through and kill everything that spawns, which I have only seen done once and barely.
Or have a rotation of kiters to keep them pre occupied.
Now I being a vit/tough/ heal mitigation Guardian usually end up going in first. I can last to usually 45 to 52% I have had it as high as 63% before.
I am not getting one shot or even two shot cause I know how to mitigate and keep my self up.
i’m playing a lvl 80 guardian and i havent had any extreme problems with the dungeons, ive had lower lvls in my team that did great in the dungeons.
you have to work together to get trough this, and if it doesnt work then maybe you or your party members should try other builds.
i’m using a tank build that i will post here for you, and i hope for you that you are able to use it the way people should.
gear: focused on vitality/toughness
weapons: mace/focus & scepter/shield
main weapons: superior sigil of energy (for you major)
off hand weapons: superior sigil of leeching
runes: 6 superior runes of the dolyak.
(i might change the 6th with a superior rune of the guardian for a little more toughness, but atm i’m using this)
valor: 20, V/IX
honour: 30, IV/II/I
virtues: 20, VI/XI
Skills:
Shelter, Stand your ground, Hold the line, Sanctuary, Renewed Focus.
you won’t have any speed boosts like this so make sure to have a staff with you and only use it when you don’t need to fight.
this is not a build where you can button bash trough anything, so read your traits & skills and read the abillities of your sigils & runes.
if you use this build in the right way, you’ll have no problem tanking and you will help your party a great deal. i also would like more effective heals on a certain class (maybe a new one) but people always find ways to get trough things and this is a way you could use.

My Guardian exacte triat build I am not sure but I think it is the same.

Looks like you play more Tank/ support where i do Tank/ dps which is fine
I know the mace heals but I placed Runes of water in both weapons or sigils rather so I heal on my strikes works for me I guess.
Although might I suggest instead of Dolyak or Guardian Superior Rune of the Solider does Toughness, power, vitality I believe
Again these are things that work for me and may not work for others I run
Stand your ground, the shout that gives you Damage mitigation 33% to everyone, Save your self one of the healing Signets and the Greneth Elite.
anyhow when I get off work I may edit this to be exact but till then you get the idea. You need to find the build that works for you, there is no real cookie cutter builds, I am sure you can find some but in my experience find out what works for you and work it good, if your getting One shot or two shot then you probably need to re think your spec is all I am saying.

rune of the soldier gives vit and toughness, i like how the 6th rune makes you able to remove a condition when you use a shout.
but it gives more vit then tougness, where dolyak gives more toughness and i prefer the toughness.
yes i try to play like a tank while supporting my party a little.
about the mace, only real reason that i use it is the third skill: it gives you and allies a shield that blocks the next attack and does counter damage, when you are not hit while having the shield, it will vanish and then grant you protection
the sigils are also to stay alive: both sets hold 1 leech and 1 energy, so when i’m out of block skills: i can dodge twice and swap, on swap i’ll steal health and get 50% energy to dodge a third time and by then i will have enough skills again to be able to fight again.
Nice set up I like it but question again I am not on the game right now but does skill 4 when using Weapon and shield gives everyone protection?
I like the leech and the Energy although that seems like a lot to do; just my opinion of course if it works for you play it brother, but that is why I went with the water on shield and sword. As I am seeing so far and for the past 3 weeks I am throwing heals up from one of the two procs every 2 seconds or so. and yeah the 5th on Solider removes conditions. Like I said to the Original posters here
Look at lynx.6302 and my builds they are similar but we Rune and Sigil different. We even use different secondary weapons. We have two different play styles and yet we both are successful at doing what we do “tanking”
So to OP it is not about spec, or skills ( even though we do use similar ones ) it is about understanding how our builds work and our builds working for us
Oh yeah P.S. lynx.6302 the ability 3 on sword puts a barrier up and is a ranged sword attack that reflects all incoming damage back at the caster. Which I guess is the same as your skill 3 ;-) just applies the helpfulness in a different way
with the 4th shield skill, you trow a wave infront of you that gives you and allies protection and dmg to enemy’s.
so everyone that you hit with the skill get the protection.
yeah i have a very active build :P, how much do you heal everytime with the sigil of water?.
alot of playstyles that work are possible, you just have to find the one that suits you. and because it seemed that this person couldnt find it, i placed mine to help him out a little .
and yeah the third skill of the sword can be nice at times, but the problem for me with that skill is, is that you wont be able to move or the skill will cancel.
third skill of mace doesnt puts on a barrier, but you can still move around. when you get hit you’ll counter it and when you dont get hit everyone that was close will get protection (33% less damage for a while) so in pve i’ll keep the mace.
(in spvp i do use the sword tho :P)
I feel you on the Mace part and fault you not for it.
Um I am healing I believe roughly around 130 to I think max I seen was 245 which isn’t bad. Although I am speced into healing so my signet heals me for 75% of my health.
Oh I think that was awesome you added your spec up there for the OP, I just wanted to warn him and show him that even though your spec is solid and I don’t fault any of it ( I just don’t like the delay on the third swing using the mace it annoys me ) that there are multiple specs and builds that do the same thing just a different way.
that heal is actually not bad ;o , if you hit and get a heal like that every 2 seconds it will probs be of good help for your team.

Blackgate, and I always like good conversation about others builds and how they work it.
im in desolation, wich is doing very bad atm in WvW. a guild came to our server invited alot of active WvW players and was kicking kitten with all those players. then suddenly they switched to blacktide (the server we were fighting and still are) and they try to get all members to transfer.
so they probs took alot of our players and are now defeating us :c.
and yeah, also like to talk about stuff.
Doesn’t Blackgate and Desolation fight? Or was that one of my other servers
