Dungeon stories account bound?
Let me guess, you want this because all you care about is running exploration mode to farm.
Do you have any idea how hard it is currently to find a group to do story mode? Even the farmers who don’t have Story Mode done stubbornly refuse to do it, and always rely on someone else in the group so that they can enter Exploration.
It’s so bad that I once was in a group of 80s wanting to do an exploration mode run, and none had the story mode (including me). Excited that this would finally get me a group to do story mode, I told them we should do a run through Story real fast (note that this benefited them as much as it did me).
2 of the 5 left because they couldn’t be bothered to do story mode. Only after an hour of asking around did we get 2 more people to replace them, and finally did story mode.
No, I completely disagree with your suggestion – it would just make the number of people wanting to do story mode that much fewer. If anything Exploration mode should require that every single party member has story mode complete.
ZenonSeth said it right, you shouldn’t be able to enter exploration mode without having finished story mode first with that character, it really sucks that nobody is doing story modes anymore and your suggestion would kill it entirely.

My motivations are not solely based on being able to farm the explorables. I really don’t like any of the story in this game and find doing story dungeons really boring.
And yes, I do have an idea how hard it is to complete the story mode with any character. Changing the character bound to account bound would remove the need to run stories again and again, though. (With the exception of people who want to run story modes.)
That’s why ArenaNet should make story mode soloable(like all the other stuff from your personal story). Then all the problems would be solved. Also people that start later with the game(or have not played dungeons all the time and want to do them later and see the story(and not skip cutscenes)) would not have to look for groups first which seems to be a problem if everone is only farming explorable mode and nobody needs story anymore.

And removing the need to do it more than once per account would make it next to impossible to get a group for Storymode, since people would in most cases never do it after doing it on one character.

It seems it is already that way now, anyway.

They should make it so all 5 members need to have story mode completed before your party can enter explorable mode.

Agree.
More or less, but completely removing the need to do it from a huge amount of the characters wouldn’t really make it any easier.
What they should do is to remove the ability to bypass the restriction by requiring everyone’s character to have completed Story Mode.

I can see how that would give incentive to do the story mode for a very short period, only. People would run story modes on all their chars and after two weeks the old status quo would set back in.

That is of course assuming no new players ever join the game, which is very unlikely.

It also assumes that no one will ever make more characters that they want to try out dungeons with – which I also find unlikely.

I was just exaggerating. Since players will want to level up more characters, as well, we’d probably not be back at the exact same place, but close really.
I like the idea of account bound stories (so bound with achievments). Got 8 toons, use them all, I have problem which toons has which story made, I really like to fit with my class to a party to make it better.
