Dungeon tokens - exchange for some coins
I agree with fotm tokens, because once you have everything you want (fractal capacitor+gift of ascension you cant do anything with it (well buy fractal capacitors to alts maybe), but not dungeon tokens. Dungeon tokens are fine as they are imo.
Why not the others too? It would be just an option for you to spend your tokens as you want. As you can see in the examples these are not too great rewards, just something you can do with them, if you dont want to hpard dungeon exotics (and why would you?).
No love for this idea?
I know it might sound like a first world problem, but it still would be ice for lots of people. I think.
There is currently a way to do this with regular dungeon tokens (kind of). If you’re one of the lucky ones and get a special dungeon recipe, you can turn dungeon tokens into items and sell them on the AH.
I’ve been doing this with HOTW tokens, turning 200 tokens (a days worth) into 3-4g basically.
Nemata Sapshield – Dragonhunter
Lillian Estre – Tempest
Which recipes are those for example?
Make them all tradeable, problem solved. You might want to spend all your time in FoTM, I don’t want to spend any, there could be a decent market if ANet wanted it.
couldnt you just trade dungeon tokens in and salvage for ecto? any dungeon with (is it) 68+(?) rare gear means its 30 tokens for a chance at ecto
ive barely done FotM at all though; so cant comment on over abudance of relics
80 warr [Blaze Steelsoul], 80 ele [Blaze Nightstrike], 80 mesmer [Grim Shatterwhirl]
80 guard [Dusk Grimlight], 80 engi [Flintgear]
There is already a way to convert tokens into coin.
Trade in for a cheap rare -> Salvage -> Sell mats

Many items/currencies are intentionally not tradeable so that your achievements of doing the dungeon are exclusively presented by your gear or items.
If you see someone walking around with a set of that dungeon gear, you know they worked their —-- off in that dungeon.
Soulbound currencies and gear are meant to give value to certain aspects of the game.
To make them tradeable or convertable (in economics, that is to liquidate them) further then is already permitted, is to reduce their overall value. That contradicts the feature’s intended purpose; the only reason they have to do so is your petty desire to save a few tokens, which is a terribly weak reason.
And no, they can’t go improving the salvage rates. The reason conversion rates are intentionally bad is two-fold.
1. Reduce inflation / market saturation rates.
2. Give players incentive to buy gold with gems.
And there is no sort of argument you can make to trump a double-sided goal of long-term-game-health AND company-profit. You can’t beat that~

All the tokens in the world can’t buy you a life.

i’d rather see them use FotM tokens as currency for fractal skins.
@DreamOfACure:
Ok, now wipe off the foam from your mouth.
I don’t think that low exchange rate as I said in the example would ruin the whole economy of the game, plus would destroy Anet. As you said, it can be currently traded in for rares, that can be salvaged – thus probably giving more in-game money then I implied in my example. This would only be a matter on convinience. If you can exchange it anyway (sort of), why not just have an easier way to do so?
I also don’t see why this would interfere with people wanting to run around in full dungeon gear (I do so myself). It’s not like you would HAVE TO sell your tokens. It just would be a convinient way to deal with them.
By the way, you do know, that company profit, and ‘game-health’ go hand-in-hand in this kind of game, right? It’s not like they sold you their copy, and they don’t give a kitten afterwards.
All this still doesn’t solve the FotM tokens issue. I still would not like to destroy them.
