So, my turret crew in Sparkfly was chatting last night about dyes, and we thought; dyes with particle effects?

Violet dyes that shed little silver shimmers could be called Starlight. White dye with snowflakes, etc.

I know people are split on particle effects being too prevalent, and I am afraid to get the idea so tangled up in RNG that only three players can ever afford it anyway, but we thought it sounded amazing.

Cool idea, but probably belongs in suggestions forum.

Yeah, we do not have enough shinies in this game, with these new dyes, you will melt into the particle effect overkill.

Yes, I did think – people are already a bit cross about the particle overload. But I am not talking huge effects. Just enough to see. Not enough to obscure the sun during a zerg, like with some of the skill effects.

And dyes are …. dyes. I mean, they introduce new dyes, and they make them all hard to get, and – well, there are a limited number of times you can release a ‘new’ green. ‘Oh, this green is a little greener than that green. In a yellowy green way.’

A little shimmer effect could possibly be really cool. One person suggested rainbows, but that might be a bridge too far.

I too would like animated dyes. They could be exotic rarity also – to distinguish them amongst other dyes.

Personally, I would love some sort of glowing dye – similar to the effects of radiant gloves/helm/mantle (or even chaos gloves in GW1), as well as a transparent/ghostly dye and a pulsating lava-like dye, similar to the effects of the hellfire gloves/helm/mantle. I believe they’d be extremely popular.

Let me get this straight – You want to add shimmering, particles, sparkles, snowflakes, and animated armor to this?

There could be an effect override for the dye implemented in large battles.

I’m not sure adding a glitter dye would be technically possible. It would be nice if they let us dye the glow channels in armor like the cof or molten. They could then add new Arbors with a glitter layer that could be dyed separately

Don’t really like the sound of dyes giving of particle effects, sounds like to much on screen and would be kinda hectic.
More armor like the achievement armor, and being able to dye those would be okay. (maybe a particle effect for Sylvari that looks like pollen coming off us)

Sparkly pollen would be amazing. Or like those tiny blue glows in the air in the Grove!

The pollen is part of the reason I ran fervid censer on my sylvari

I would honestly prefer gradient options over particle effects.

Could create some really neat stuff by fading colors into each other. I know this is part of the appeal of the Sylvari cultural armors for me.

I would like that as well. Sylvari armor is beautiful; a lot of other clothing looks much too color blocky.
