Dyeable Weapons
nice idea but sounds like it would be a lot of work to implement, especially as there is so much else Anet is / could be working on

would be cool if you could change the glow color on kasmeers staff as well (not all people are mesmers like me and dislike the purple but otherwise like the staff)
i made my own topic of dyeable weapons.. as did many other people.. but it long since dissapeared.
Would be nice. Been hoping for this for 487 days and counting.

I agree, it would be awesome to be able to change the glow effect. Just whipped up a white-ish glow version of kasmeer’s staff:
But then they couldn’t sell palette swapped skins in the gemstore!
There would be limitations, for example with the Super Adventure Box skins, they would remain the same as they are now. And legendary greatswords would only have dyeable hilts etc.
There’s still plenty Anet could add to the gemstore to enhance players’ customisation experience, with things like exotic/legendary dyes (or they could add recipes to unlock the dyes via a living story or even holiday event items). The possibilities are endless really.
In a living story that relates to the Dragons for example, you could unlock the recipe for a Deep Corrupted Ice Dye which applies a pulsating ‘corrupted ice shard’ look to armor. Pic below of what the corrupted ice looks like :-P
Now THIS is a dye I’d want! #andwouldmatchtheColdsnapscepter
Just let me get a silver moonshank and I’m happy.

id be happy if i could have a golden kasmeers staff with white glow.. i would also like to have white magic on my mesmer but thats a bit too far lol…
Dye-ing all visible items are matter of Customization, which is the core-element of any RPG game. Since GW2 is about collecting skins to look good, this option you suggested, and suggested by 456574687697 user before you – should be in the game from the beginning.
For first, let Arenanet understand how bad decision it was to release Ascended Weapons with fixed color variations…

I agree, it’s one of those mechanics that should be in any game really. I don’t understand why it hasn’t been done for GW2 when it was done for GW1, and surely with better technology nowadays it would be possible. Sure it might take a while, but I’d rather have them work on dyeable weapons over a ton of living stories any day.
I want a black flame volcanus then o:
