Ok, We all know necromancers have several skills that cause Fear, and fear can be a dangerous status in sPvP and WvW combat. Necromancers are meant to have Fear. It is a good thing for them to have.

Then tell me why the highest amount of Fear that we can deal is 1 SECOND (or 1.5 seconds if they are within 600 with one skill while we are in DS) while the Thief can cause a 3 second fear with the stolen skull. Explain this to me please.

Either nerf the skull or increase the fear duration of Necro skills. A stolen skill should never be greater than one that is built in to a class.

You can trait/build to increase the duration of fear. You MUST know this.

Sgt Killjoy – “Pedantic” “babe” and “bff” of Saiyr
The devs don’t care about WvW so I’m gonna kill players in PvE!

and on the other hand.. a thief can’t rely on fear.. its a stupid RNG skill that you can get maybe, but you can’t rely yourself on getting it whenever you steal something, except when stealing on a necromancer, because certain end ups seem to be tied up the type of enemy who got stolen something… like for example chances are higher that you get those whirling axes if you steal from a warrior, but its not a 100% chance, you could get also somethign different like that one that makes you go in stealth for a few seconds…

However.. I think the Steal item Skills of the Thief need a redesign and they need alot more of skills there to be more versatile.
If you steal something from other players, the Stealing should have a wide range from different results and not just such a tiny range for results in ending up always either with the expected class specific item or the stealth skill….

Example:

Instead of stealing from a warrior always only the whirling axes skill or the stealth one, with chances like felt 80/20 for the axes it should be more like this:

Steal from a Warrior and you could get instead of 2 different results you should get something out of the range of like 10 different results and each of them should have the same chance of 10% to be the item that you steal.

Something like this for example in regard of stealing from a Warrior:

1) Blinding Tuft (The Stereotypical Stolen Item for Stealth and Blindness)
2) Axe – Whirling Axe – (Damages multiple enemies multiple times)
3) Mace – Head Crack – (Damages the Foe with a 100% Critical and dazes them)
4) Stolen Randomous Banner – (Gets you a randomous Warrior Utility Banner to use)
5) Warhorn – Thief Summon – (Summons 1 thief for 20 seconds liek that trap utility)
6) Sword – Poisonous Impaler – (throwing the sword to deal torment like the warrior version, but also causing poison too)
7) Shield – Shield Chakram – (Throw the Shield like a Chakram dealing multiple targets damage and gain some toughness in that time for a few seconds)
8) Hammer – Hammer Head Ram – (Strike the enemy with the hammer head and push them away)
9) Rifle – Overloaded Shot – (works similar like Kill Shot, but you get pushed back)
10) Great Sword – Blade Snake – (works like Bladetrail, but doesn’t cripple, it poisons and makes vulnerable within its 2 hits)

Something like that would be really great and would surely result in more thiefs going for the classical Rogue build that is specialized on stealing much.
Other classes (environmental enemies in PvE) would have then other results based on the enemy class/environmental creature’s skills.

That way woukld become the Thief class more kind o “the Blue Mage” kind of gameplay class, that uses skills of enemies against them… so fighting fire with fire in their own unique way.

Personally I like the idea behind sub classes ~ quoted from Chris Whiteside

Hahaha no. It’s fine the way it is, it works just like fear me which is a warrior skill. The thief’s steal mechanic is made to give them something valuable against that foe, usually their own mechanic. If I steal from a thief I get stealth, warriors give AOE DPS, mesmers give boons, rangers give regen/condi clear, necros- fear, eles give chill, guards- daze and engis give condis. Anet just buffed steal so thieves would use it, very few were using steal except as a gap closer or mug traiting.

The Necromancer’s Fear i anything should be stronger than the fear granted from a stolen skill. Even with increasing duration and the like the Necromancer is in no way comparable to the 3 second fear granted by the stolen item. 3 seconds in a PvP match is nearly an eternity and as such should never be permitted. Our fear WAS nerfed for some reason or another, and it is ridiculous. A stolen skill should never be more potent than a natural skill. Ever.
