Ele weapon changing tab when OCC
I am all for ele’s having a second weapon slot, as long as we remove their ability swap atunements.

…Did the two response posts read the original post, or just the title?
I’m all for this change. Limiting it to out of combat keeps it from changing game balance, and it would encourage me to switch up my build a lot more, instead of “Staff, all the time, because I don’t want to fool with swapping weapons manually.”
(That might not sound like such a big deal, but if I’m switching from a pair of single-handed weapons to a two-handed staff, it swaps one of my weapons in my “bag for all my spare gear,” which is an invisible bag at the bottom of the list, and drops the other in my general backpack, where it gets lost with all the junk I pick up. It’s not a huge problem, but it’s still a pain to have to dig for it and fix it every time.)
Plus, two extra inventory slots for weapons. That seems all right.
Ok sure, just give me 8 more weapon sets for my warrior even if they’re only OOC.
These QoL threads that only help the OP are always amusing.

Yes because carrying these in our inventory and switching between them whenever we feel we need to (which we already do), equates to giving you 8 more slots of inventory space for free. Here carry around all 8 weapons that you want to be able to switch to OoC for a year and then we’ll talk.
Attunement swap is already a poor system to replace weapon swap as we’re locked into one range the entire battle. Lord forbid we get some convenience. We’ve already taken everything from the ele, why try to make the class any easier to play?

Yes. That is exactly equivalent and not at all a silly exaggeration of what’s being suggested.
I don’t see the problem. QoL stuff just keeps people immersed, and it’s not like this hurts anyone. +1
Tittle kind of misleading.
“Maybe I was the illusion all along!”
i agree with OP, but this problem isn’t limited to eles.
When i played WoW, there was an addon that let you set up different armor/weapon sets that you could assign to a hotkey, that you could switch to out of combat. I would love something like this to make it easier to switch weapons/armors out of combat.
Appropriate storage and weapon swaps for all professions OUT OF COMBAT is fine, your changing NONE of the mechanics in combat. Are some people like really old and still stand up to change the channel in this thread?
The Warrior turns to the guardian and says, “Did you hear something?”
Guardian replies, “No, but how’d the elementalist die?”
I swear, do some people not bother to actually read the initial post or to think before commenting,
Anyway, I would like to have more OUT OF COMBAT weapon slots for all professions.
One possibility is the 4 choices like in Guild Wars 1. While OOC you click on a choice both to select and deselect. Once IN COMBAT the choice(s) are locked. The Ele and the Engineer still have only one weapon and can’t switch again until OOC.
This would have multiple benefits for all professions.
- it would encourage using weapons depending on what is coming up rather than staying with the same set continuously.
- Having to stop and dig around in the inventory discourages people from trying out different weapons. Staying with the same weapons all the time instead of switching around makes combat stale.
- it would free up inventory slots for all the professions.
- it would keep the weapons better organized. Now if you swap them using the inventory, they go to different places each time which makes them hard to find and increases the chance they will be sold or salvaged.

It actually is, elementalists carry maybe 8 weapons in total at the most to cover all their weapon sets. On warrior I have 30 different weapons.
This is a great idea, not game imbalancing. But I think it would get more (and better) attention if the title could be changed to include “OoC/Out of combat” or “saved weapon/armor sets”. Can thread titles be changed?
because Eles having 40 weapon skills instead of just 20 makes things more balanced
because Eles having 40 weapon skills instead of just 20 makes things more balanced
…Enabling weapon set swapping outside of combat is going to mess with the balance? Even though we can already do that, and this just makes it more convenient?
I’m starting to wonder if maybe this thread is an elaborate social experiment on reading comprehension.
Changed the title
Oh man the invisible bag thing when changing from 2 to1 weapon makes me so paranoid, i accidently sold an abyssal scepter to a merchant in wvw because i was in a rush to dump my bags and it got put in with my blues and greens.
As for the build bank, this topic comes up quiet a bit with my guildies (have been thinking about posting something). The weapons and armor arent so bad but it would be cool if we could have a locker in the main areas where we could save total builds including armor/weapons and traits/skills then pay maybe 10s and change to our alternative builds.
I dont think any of these suggestions are balance breaking (I play all classes and dont favour any) but I feel at this stage of the game I need change to keep me interested. I like making new builds and using different skills/weapons it brings new life into my toons.
Guys, all he’s saying is make it more convenient to change weapon sets while OOC rather then going into inventory,
Ele since Beta Weekend 1 here. I would pay money for this change. Astral summed it up properly; the GW1 system of “four weapon sets, only one (two for other profs) in combat” is the way to go. Frankly, I’d like to see this for armor and trinket sets as well. It’s only a logical convenience versus what we can already do by clicking around in our bags.
I guess it was Knee-Jerk Reaction Day for some of these folks ^
itt: people who have been trashed by ele’s in pvp wanting the worst for them without understanding anything at all (a warrior, lol)
There is NO possible reason why this suggestion shouldn’t be implemented. There just isn’t one. I wouldn’t even mind if we didn’t get to free up 2 bag slots, and the weapons still stayed in our bags but when we switched it would equip them/unequip the other. It’s not about 2 measly bag slots out of 160+, it’s about a tedious lack of care/forsight for the profession.
I’d even petition for an in combat switch, at least in PvE… just give it a 10 minute cooldown or something, I don’t care how long but it’s annoying when you fight a boss for the first time and you don’t know what its attacks are like, then you realise you’ve picked the wrong weapon for it and have to either slug it out like an idiot or try and find a safe spot somewhere you can get out of the tedious, tedious, teeeedious “cannot switch weapons while in combat” foolery.
I’m sure all classes can relate to that when trying to waypoint, and you’re not even IN combat… that’s what it’s like for Ele’s, all the time, only we have to look through a tediously (wow so many things are tedious in this game, lol) messy bag which has no proper sort function to find our weapons (but that’s another thread entirely!)
