Elem problems and fixes
I disagree on Fix 1. I play ele as my main and enjoy playing it a lot. Yet it is a very fine line for ele to become OP profession. This also breaks consistency having short weapons for a short range. It would be better adding new weapon for ele to use rather than messing with current one and breaking balance tremendously. Unlike many people think, having staff in SPvP is not bad at all. This also bring the risk of non ele players to fuel rage for adding mana usage, increased cooldowns and all sort of things…
Fix 2 – sounds good and logical, I am afraid other professions would be mad on this
Problem 3 – tried it once every summoned weapon and never used again. I think summoned weapons are for some other game.
Problem 4 – agree and I really like tornado but it makes ele extremely big squishy target so it usually means “yeah you make havoc but you die”. I think 95% of my ele play is using this glyph of elementals as elite skill and I am not particularly happy with that too.
Disagree with #1 – Same thoughts as Inkubus has
Fine With #2
2 & 3 – Agree that summoned weapons are basically just for fun, even with added stats from last update, having the, switchable would be great addition even without rethinking skills I think, that would also basically resolve #1, having shield that you can switch to become invulnerable and do other perks then switch back to staff(or something else) and then back again if needed, or switching between daggers for close range attacks and bow to finish of distant enemies etc.
4 – use of utility slots doesn’t make sense, but added feat like 50% of attack will miss or reflect projectiles would be good imo

1- I am talking about one attack in one attunement (best client would be Water #1), its far from gamebreaking. Being completely shut down on many events really is a pain.
2, 3, 4- I’m just trying to find easy tweaks to make almost useless abilities to almost good without having to change the whole mecanism or revamp every traits.
I would probably use sometimes, some summoned weapon if I could switch in and out. I would probably use tornado on some places (WvW) if it wasnt a suicide button. Being able to use heal or some utility would be enough for me.
I disagree with #1 aswell.
I’d rather like to see a Out-of-Fight weaponswap, for the only reason to have it more handy than open inventory and find the weapon you want to use, additional it can save you some inventory space :P
2: As Staff-Ele for the most time I have 20 points in arcane, so i dont see a big issue there even tough, cooldowns could be a little shorter you shouldnt neglect the fact, that Attunementswap is considered a weaponswap and therefor Sigils apply.
I use a superior sigil of energy on my staff, that grants me another dodgeroll on attunement swap
3- beside the bow and the GS i dont like any of the summoned weapons alot, tough Bow is only useful in certain situations, basically the charges on those weapons shouldnt be lowered while using the 1 attack, otherwise it makes them barely useful.
4- The elites are really not all that great, however i think allowing healskill within a transformation would make OP for all of them not only Elementalists, also thinking of the Norn-Racial ones or Warrior Rampage, didnt play alot with other transforms. on the other hand, its an elite skill so maybe with a higher cooldown would be fine.

This is good one! I like it. For instance I mostly use staff but sometimes I use scepter + focus. So I open Hero panel and swap now and then. Not big deal ha? It is a big deal! sometimes in dungeons I would like to use scepter and sometimes staff but don’t want to go trough hero panel.
As appendix to Fix 1 and my idea for extra weapon: even Gandalf used sword! Give us sword with range 900 and new abilities!

You really think this idea would pass???
You really think this idea would pass???
No, but if we are to have an extra ranged weapon, I would rather suggest having a sword for range 900 than to alter a dagger to 900. I expect elementalists have always least weapons than any other profession and elements swapping are the reason. So if we get extra weapon (like sword), others will be using halberds, morning star etc.

Having a sword would be cool, but it doesnt help D/ to be completely stuck when having to leave melee on no-melee bosses events. Warriors and thiefs can weapon swap to ranged, Elem cant.
Having one ranged auto attack in dagger primary wouldnt alter the whole freaking balance.
Weapon switch out of combat wouldnt neither, actually if they ever implement such a thing I’d rather see a equipement manager allowing to swich out of combat to another gear set just like you do for town clothes, and that for all professions (probably from $$ gem store).

Try scepter. Solve many of your problems. It is very well balanced for ele between dagger and staff. Also, I advise you to actually try other professions and you will see that warrior is not nearly that good with ranged weapons as he is with melee weapons. Especially not good in comparison to ele on staff.
Besides, you are forgetting one important thing: ele has huge damage while wearing dagger but if you make it to use the same damage on bigger range it would be unfair to other professions and totally imba. Look other casters like mesmer and necromancers. Both have more weapons and weapon swap on their disposal. But wouldn’t be nice that mesmer can spawn more illusions? Or to spawn them in shorter period of time? Or necromancer to syphone health with every weapon? Or to have fear on every weapon? Check those professions to realize why I typed this.
Everything they gave us with abilities per weapon has some pros and cons and daggers are for the close range. I would like my fire spells make conditions while using staff same as daggers do, but no, only one spell can do that and very shortly. These are the consequences of my choice to play ele with staff and with it I learn better ways to use weapon of choice for my preferred profession. So should you and everybody else. Just constant plea for change of one thing might be no big deal for you but others can see that as unfair advantage. Hell, I would use daggers if they got range 900 but no, don’t like that playstyle (ele to be close to enemy) so I stick with staff and scepter(sometimes).
…
Seriously. I also play scepter, it is not the point, I am not the D/D advocate here.
I am not saying D/D Elems should have EVERYTHING at ranged but that they should have just one single even low damaging anytime attack just to be able to some something when they cannot go into melee.
I played every single bloody class since BW1, Warriors (or actually most profs) are not nearly as effective at range as in melee but they have the option to do something.

You have ride the lightning, burning speed and magnetic grasp to close the gap and vapor blade has range of 600, I don’t get it, you need something with range 1200?
I dont need anything more to get close. I think it would be less frustrating for dagger user to have vapor blade at 900 so they could hit oils or bosses with melee deny abilities.
