Let me start off by saying that I understand why Elementalists cannot switch weapons in combat. I would however love to be able to be able to keep 2 sets of weapons on my character instead of in my bags. I feel as if it would make switching weapons ( out of combat) alot easier. I would like to be able to basically have it so i can have both my d/d and my staff on my character and be able to switch between them without opening my bag of the character screen. It should still be kept that Elementalists still can only switch out of combat thought.

It would take time to implement and it’d not be so useful,also the engineers have the same issue,and believe me,there are much bigger issues.

A problem I see is that ele’s aren’t meant to be switching weapons easily. So then the reason to switch weapons out of combat becomes a quality of life issue. If A-net caters to that then they would also be pushed to cater to all the other classes that want to keep their other weapons that they don’t use in the inventory ooc switch. And a-net wouldn’t be able to say “no” because the reasoning would be quality of life that has nothing to do with weapon switching.

This thread comes up over and over and over again and even with an elementalist myself I feel the people posting it must ONLY play ele’s or engi’s. Yes, you sometimes have to swap between your d/d and your staff, but at the same time I’m fairly certain you’re swapping traits (at least your majors), your utilities, and possibly armor too. This is something the rest of us also have to do on occasion. Having 2 sets of weapons no more magically prepares me for every situation. You complain about swapping between what adds up to 3 MAYBE 4 weapons in TOTAL, taking up 1 or 2 spots in your inventory. My warrior main has a greatsword, 2 axes, a mace, a rifle, and a longbow. That’s 3 setups for 2handers and 2 setups for dual wielding (and two different full sets of armor) if we completely ignore stacking sigils (bloodlust and luck) and situational sigils (aoe procs vs single target vs % modifiers), in reality I have 3 more greatswords and another bow. That’s actually reduced from what it should be because I have a SECOND warrior that runs support/CC, covers situations I would use hammer or shield or mainhand mace, and has two OTHER sets of armor. All of these situations get compressed into how you use your elements and required you to purchase of fraction of the gear.

You got it good. Quit complaining.

In GW1, you could setup four sets of weapons that you could equip. I’d love to be able to do that in GW2, even if I’m not allowed to change between these during combat. I wouldn’t mind paying gems or coin for the privilege (maybe some sort of upgrade to a bag).

Right now, it’s tedious to manage my inventory to handle several sets of weapons and/or armor. I have the bag space, but I have to search it to find the correct item to swap to. This gets increasingly difficult the more loot you accumulate. I’ve adopted all sorts of work-around to simplify the process.

The point is: that’s not playing the game, that’s moving pixels around my screen.

I don’t think it’s an issue unique to elementalists, though.

Actually, they very well can deny other classes access to an easy out of combat swap. Elementalists and Engineers both are strictly limited to one weapon set in combat. That alone should validate as justrification to applying such a change to Elementalsits and Engineers and denying it to other classes.

It’s really not hard to simply say “You already can switch weapons in combat at will, Elementalists and Engineers must wait until they exist combat to switch” Justification plain and simple.

The argument of “oh it’s a quality of life change” really doesn’t apply to a simple weapon switch. The “quality of life” argument stretches things to absurd lengths, demanding 4, 5, or even 6 ooc-weapon swaps, instant armor swap, multiple trait build swaps… And quite honestly, the “give an inch, take a mile” approach of this argument is despicable.

Elementalists and Engineers have a valid reason for asking for this feature for ONE… I repeat ONE ooc-weapon swap. They are limited to ONE in-combat weapon, so giving those two classes, AND ONLY THOSE TWO, a SINGLE ooc-weapon swap will not harm or damage the game. Catering to the “give an inch, take a mile” crowd however will damage the game.

This brings us back to the problem of ele’s not being intended to have a weopon swap. so why would they get a substitute for weapon swap when they are specifically intended not to have one? because your reasoning equates the ooc weapon swap to the other classes in combat weapon swap. Which is why I gave it the benefit of the doubt and labeled it a QoL issue. Because that is really the best reasoning for it to happen.

I would just like to be able to easily be able to have range in an area that i need it. just having d/d on doesn’t give me the rang i need for some situations.
