One of the problems with dungeons right now is how difficult it is to find a group because these instances are scattered across the map in locations where the dungeon level requirement does not match that particular region’s level (e.g. Twilight Arbor a level 50-55 dungeon in the level 1-15 sylvari starter area). This in conjunction with a lack of a server spanning LFG system makes finding groups and/or additional players take longer than it really should.
From the original Guild Wars, one of the updates which I thought was great was the addition of the embark beach outpost which linked all story missions into one location so PUG groups could be easily formed. The NPCs there were divided across all expansions and they could easily teleport parties to their destination. Unfortunately, this feature was implemented way too late in the game’s life for it to be extensively used by the playerbase.
So for Guild Wars 2, I think this feature would be a great addition to the game and make everything that much easier for everyone but it has to be implemented early for it to succeed.
My idea for this outpost would be a little sanctuary somewhere that could be easily accessed via asura gate from all capital cities. Instead of magical NPCs that mass teleports people to varied locations, there would be tuned asura gates which warps you straight into the dungeon and lets you warp straight out for situations where you lose a party member and need a replacement. Also, additional dungeon gear vendors could be added to this location for easy access.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that this outpost would be a great social hub too. End-game content is heavily reliant on communities to sustain it.
