Enable auto follow in WvW
so you want to dumb it down to increase organization? Sorry terrible idea. Besides it would be so abused by people dragging a friend/second account with them all day to every capping circle and getting free xp, karma and coins.
I respect your opinion and understand how you feel it may “dumb-down” the game play, though that reasoning is subjective. Objectively speaking though, there are things such as an auto kick which boots out players who just afk.
From a subjective perspective, the tactical possibilities outweigh the con you mentioned. For example, a zerg following a commander is protected due to the multi hit limit (Turtling). This forces the opponent to focus fire individuals in the pile through the aim target functionality. This would revolutionise open field combat. It would therefore not dumb down combat but force commanders to use their brains and choose appropriate targets in the opponents zerg .

I fail to see how a follow feature would be abusive in PVE… presence alone does not factor into participation in an event. You have to actively participate to get credit, sitting on Follow with someone who is participating won’t give you any credit let alone reward.
That said… I will only support a Follow function if it is applied to PVE as well. It is more usefull to a PVE player following an impatient friend while they sort inventory or deal with traits and skill points.
In PVP it doesn’t serve a very practical purpose, unless you can follow an enemy target it’s mostly useless in PVP… Oh sure follow someone in the zerg so you can AFK the rush… yea… very tactical… Follow a target that keeps evading everything that on the other hand is useful… however… Stealth, Teleport, and excessive distance should break follow.
