Q:

On top of weapons and armor sigils why not be able to enchant them as well with healing power or critical damage. I know I’m not the only one who wants something like this for gear to better complete their charater’s role of control or support.
Thoughts & suggestions?

In other words, you just want to add more stats.

If Arenanet deems that it won’t break balance. Then they’ll add it. Otherwise, all this will do is add more vertical grind.

At least in a good way where I don’t need to buy newer equipment like Ascended gear.

First off, wrong game Sandal, go home.

Secondly, this seems an interesting idea.

Though it would need to be balanced properly, and it would likely become another gold sink.

Sigils, runes, crests, orbs, etc. basically are what you’re talking about. You can get upgrades like those with basically any stats you could desire. Just tell yourself you’re “enchanting” your gear when you apply them, and there you go.

If you want another upgrade slot that requires a different kind of upgrade or “enchantment,” shouldn’t it at least function differently than simply being another layer of stats to pile onto endgame gear? 20-40 more Precision or Toughness may make you feel a little stronger, but it doesn’t make the game more interesting. I’m sure ArenaNet will come up with some new kinds of crafting and/or gear enhancement down the line, but I wouldn’t expect it for a while.

It would be nice… so not every warrior has just the same greatsword..
It’s a nice way to build your gear how you want and be better and stronger even the rest.

No I am not talking about those upgrades, I’m talking about a separate enchant on gear/weapons. Not sigils or crests; the abilitys or stat increase they can give is the skys the limit, im not holding it down to just more precision or toughness. For example what about 10% boon duration or 15% magic find. Anything really that would fit.

I enjoyed the reference. But really, runes and sigils already do exactly what you’re describing. There are magic find and boon duration ones, in fact.

I actually would have really liked it if Infusions were basically the equivalent of “enchantments”; additional powers that could be added onto existing Exotic weapons to bring them up to par with Ascended items. Maybe ANet could rework the existing system to work this way, but I’m not holding my breath.
