Hi,
I’ve played gw2 like more than half an year. The moment I reached level 80, I tried various things wvw, spvp, dungeons, etc. But I am extremely bored. There is no goal to achieve anything. I do something, kill some monsters, take a tower, but when I finish with it I got nothing. I joined for wvw, the other zerg group was bigger than mine so they wiped us out. Then I joined for some pvp and I ended up playing 2v2 and even 1v1, and it was so boring that I can kill myself. Then I went for some dungeon but could not gather any party for it and just waited in front of the instance for like half an hour. Currently I play SCII as I am so bored with GW2.
I am a former WoW player and I am a good WoW player (2.2K+), but I am also one of the many people crying on WoW forums that the game is just too demanding, that it is all about the gear, that it is not fair and not about skills. WoW is indeed a time-consuming black hole and I am a grownup that goes to work and have a family so I don’t have the time the WoW demands. Also, don’t like paying subscription although I can surely afford it. So, I moved to GW2 and found everything I was crying about on WoW forums here. No gear advantage, no subscription, no forced capping, no elite gear, etc. And at the beginning it was great, it was everything I’ve asked for. But when I reached level 80, I lost my strive for life. I miss my goal. I don’t know why I do those things. I guess fun but it is no fun if there is no achievement.
Having played both games, I think Blizzard know what they are doing. They know how to keep people playing. They put something in front of them and the kids want it. Here there is nothing on the table to get. So nothing to play for.
