The endless gathering tools – pick, axe, sickle – should be permanent additions to the gem store. Arenanet is losing out on a lot of potential profit by taking them away after the short periods they’ve been available.

If the pick was still available I’d spend money on gems to buy it. I didn’t buy it when it was up because I didn’t feel it was worth it at the time, but after a while I’ve come to realize that it would be a great convenience. I also didn’t realize at the time that it wasn’t a permanent addition to the gem store, as it was listed under the Services tab and not just the Promotions tab.

If things are going to be temporarily available they should say so in the description or be put in their own tab that contains only temporary content.

As of now we’ve got to wait months, maybe even a full year, before we can spend cash on something we would like to have. Instead those of us who don’t have them will be spending gold in-game to buy the consumable ones, making Arenanet nothing in the way of profit.

Edit: Also the animations are downright annoying. Why not offer normal looking endless tools?

Having them be limited pressures people to buy them. Besides that, I don’t like the fact that they sold items like this in the gem store at all. It completely breaks a game mechanic they’ve created for the game.

It’s almost as bad as an infinite salvaging kit.

Those items cost 800 gems. Each 100 gems is around 3 gold now. That means you need 24 gold to buy each of those items

The best mining pick, for example, Orichalcum Logging Axe, costs 4 silver and has 100 uses.
100 uses – 4 silver
*25
2500 uses – 1 gold
*24
60000 uses – 24 gold

If nothing is wrong up there, that means it’s not even worth thinking about buying those items.

But man, what about bag space? How I’m gonna carry so many mining picks?
You dont need to. Equip 100 and let another 100 in your bag. Using them all will take some time. Buy more when needed

Its more of ease of mind to be honest, I bought them purely because it means I don’t have to visit a vendor again for tools, nor do I have to check my inventory for the inevitable run-out. Call me a kitten , but hey, I’m a happy kitten .
Now if only they released unlimited master salvage kits, I can be a true kitten .

But back on topic, I would assume that either more tiers of nodes are coming down the line OR they will periodically release the tools back on the gem store, whenever there data suggests that theres enough new players to warrant them.
Would make decent perma additions though, Ill give the OP that.
