Enemy Names in WvW
While you do bring up an adequate point and it would indeed be nice to know for those of us who like friendly competition more.
The more likely result of this would be harassment, trolling, and hate whispers between servers. People enjoy spewing bile towards each other more than they enjoy praising one another unfortunately. There are a great deal more who do neither this is true, but the people who will make use of a system like this are far more likely to make their opponents miserable or angry than they are to be friendly.
I see your point, but is it possible to even talk to an enemy player? If you are just able to see their names you shouldn’t be able to talk to them, also not being able to attack them. I came from a game that does show the names of all the players, it’s like a small community, same players for years kinda thing, that’s why I bring this up. Competition there is pretty cool because you know who you fight and what they’re capable of. But I see your point as well, especially with a game that has this many players, might end up differently.
I also heard that one’s name can also be used in other servers as long as that name has not been registered in the specific server, so meeting someone with an identical name can also cause confusion if you would want to whisper or mail people with identical names to an other person from an other server. I don’t know if this is true or false, so feel free to correct me about this.
But if it is false, I would love to see names as well when meeting enemies in WvW.

Sort of…anyway, there’s a roundabout way of doing it.

As long as the enemy has their chat box set to read emotes, they can read what you say.
