Hello,
I have a proposal on how to improve the current Looking For Group system. I think anyone that has been playing the game for a while has heard about gw2lfg.com at some point or another and uses that now primarily as their way to find a group or more players for a dungeon.
As a 5 year veteran of the WoW game, I did, for the most part, enjoy the Dungeon Finder group they implemented. However, they used a system where groups were matched up by the Gear the players were wearing. As in, high item level players were typically matched up with other high item level players.
I think this could be improved and you could pick up the slack where WoW left off.
Implement some type of system where you can be queued for a dungeon and be matched up with players that have the same amount of Experience as you.
Example:
Player A queues up for an Arah Path 3 dungeon group.
GW2 gathers stats about Player A for further processing…
Results:
Player A has never run Arah Path 3 before on any character on this account. Result = Y(85)
Player A is primarily in blue and green quality gear. Result = X(15)
FinalResult = Y(85) + X(15)
Player A is matched up with players who have relatively the same FinalResult value.
Experience = 85% factored
Gear = 15% factored
__
Another Example:
Player A queues for Arah Dungeon path 3
Player A has completed Arah Dungeon path 3 87 times on his/her account.
Player A is full Exotics and Ascended Gear.
Player A is matched up with Player B whos stats are:
Completed Arah 82 times
Is in all Exotic / Ascended gear
__
Well, I hope someone likes this idea. I realize it’s probably a lot of work from a coding standpoint. I really enjoy this game but think it could use a better LFG system than the one it currently has.
Best regards
