Epic skills unlocked from killing bosses.
Legendaries are a mix of
A. Out of peoples reach due to work/school/family/etc
B. The experience is lackluster and no one is going to grind or farm cof p1 (hopefully getting changed soon) to obtain a weapon.
C. Since there are soo few options (excluding gs ofc….) people don’t feel like it’s as legendary as it was at release.
If the road to making a legendary was at all enjoyable I’m sure people would’t be worried about it.
About legendary skills, ehh this game is about skins. Any exclusive mechanic is practically forbidden unless it is flat out pathetic (mistfire wolf). Maybe in the future legendary armor can be unlocked from components from some of these epic bosses but who knows. Personally, I much hated them removing the scavenger hunt you did for elite skills from gw1. Now you just get some currency and magically learn dagger storm, or rampage, or w/e other elites… not that exciting.
break. I feel like they should be back by now..”
The difference is in the maps. GW1 maps were more like large open dungeons than an explorable world. The dynamic of capturing an elite skill required group effort and strategy, more often than not. It was a scavenger hunt that was comprised of a very personal experience every single time you walked out of an outpost. GW2 maps do not have a similar personality. A group camping the same boss for him to respawn to get the skill will have a very different effect than the adventure of hunting down a skill in the first game.
I guess you had to be there to understand ;p
epic skills unlocked when major bosses were defeated.
why did we lose that for Guild Wars 2?
A group camping the same boss for him to respawn
That’s why. World bosses are just loot pinatas. People would just camp them for the new skills now too and they’d be fully unlocked by everyone in the first few days.
I get what your saying, in its current state bosses are just not set up that way.
Ok so what AN need to do then is add three or four really good (perminant) dungeons, maybe in the new expansion that AN refuse to admit they are working on. Make them progressive, so you need to beat them in various ways while each gets harder and harder and then you finally get a new epic skill unlocked which is specific to you proffesion.
This would be something to work toward and offer a carrot that isn’t putting the game on the gear treadmill which so many people fear more than smallpox.
I do miss that epic quest feel of the game, I remember all the things I had to do to get my flaming mount on my Warlock in WoW. I read what I had to do and it felt like a massive quest and like you say, more personal.
Here’s to hoping eh.
