Everyone knows that with the updated champion rewards it is more rewarding to fail or extend an event that keep spawning champions and get their bags than succeed the event.

Arenanet recently removed the karma gains if you fail the event.
With the other karma nerfs it might be that this become a deterrent but it seems unlikely.

Why not reward the bags of the champions associated with events on event completion instead as when they die?

How would this work?
Well if the event created 10 champions, one would get 10 bags on a successful event and maybe half or even less than that on a failed event.

Maybe one can tie this to the participation level.

It would also have the additional benefit of getting rid of situations where one has to stop hitting the objective champion and go bash some other secondary champion to get their loot (vide aether blade champions during scarlet invasions).

One could even extend this system further and make every event have a chance of rewarding some material, loot bag, karma container or luck container to counter a bit the efficiency of exclusively farm events with champions, world bosses or dungeons.

Otherwise it seems it is always a circle of “people not doing dungeons, let increase dungeon rewards! Wait now people aren’t playing in the open world, lets increase the open world rewards! Wair, now people only farm Orr! Lets nerf Orr rewards. Wait, now people only farm world bosses. Lets limit the world bosses rewards! Wait people aren’t playing dungeons anymore! Lets increase dungeon rewards and next week reduce them again!”.

Ascended items are Anet biggest mistake and a kneejerk reaction.
