Event weapon skins in gem store
I think it’s great idea. I heard it from so many ppl, but ANet don’t want to do it…
I don’t know why.
Didn’t Brahm and Rox weapons sold ok?
You can sell tickets for 600gems and some ppl would buy it for sure.
Please make tickets purchasable in gem store or just make them sellable via TP.
Anyway most ppl in here dont like to gamble and its time ANet learns that.
Potential problem I see is players buy the skin they want right away. No problem except then they would come to the forums and complain that they don’t have anything else to do. So the tickets gives people something to shoot for. And it breaks the monotony of regular play during times of no event.

Only if selable.
But remember there are ppl like I who wont do it just bacause its RNG. So we are off for good from the system and stil most of us will get bored very soon.
The problem is that a gambling arrangement makes Anet vastly more money so there’s a very strong financial incentive to keep the boxes. Hence I’d suggest a compromise to moderate the RNG to get rid of extremes of luck.

But the gambling only works for a short while. I have seen a lot of posts about not buying any more boxes/gems because of the drop rate. And there are players who didn’t start to gamble at all… So once players stop buying because they realize it’s a waste of money, than it’s over. Personally I would buy 1500-2000 gems right here and now to get 2 of the dragon bash weapon skins. Coming from someone who spent around 300-400 gems on box related stuff since the game launched. There is unused market here for ANet, and also players would be happier if they can get a guarantied skin at every event, one way or another.

I don’t think many people are enjoying the ever-so-fun activity of opening/ farming coffers, hoping to finally get that ticket they have been praying for … on a month long time limit.
To me coffers aren’t a thing to “do”. You CAN’T “shoot for” a jade ticket in the way you strive to grind out these task they call “achievements”. You can open coffers … and open more coffers ….. and repeat and repeat until the end and still have nothing to show for it other than a bank full of candy and Minis.

Whether they say they enjoy it or not, they show that they think it is worth their time by continuing to do it. So by taking that option away it only eliminates a proven method of time spent without making up the gap. Without a solution, all it does is create a bigger problem.
Being able to pay gems for a ticket, does not mean that you have to take tickets out of the RNG boxes. If the tickets from the RNG boxes are sellable, and the gems ones are bound there are still reasons to try for both. You can aim to sell the unbound ones to other players a few months down the road when they are no longer available.
Even during the Wintersday event, they had weapons in the gem store and another set for trade, using the ugly sweaters, socks, hats (which were able to be tradable through the tp. I liked this system. Gets you to actually play the event (and the game) to earn the weapon instead of always hoping to get a ticket.

My point exactly. RNG can stay in the game as it is.

You are right. It worked during the wintersday event so why not keep it?
Also this event skin problem would not be such a big problem if we also get new skins that can be obtained in-game without the time limit from dungeons or activities. But at current state if you don’t have luck with RNG boxes than you have nothing new to customize your character. And the skins should be the end-game “loot”.

The only problem for me was that I didn’t liked the design of wooden items so I didn’t bought them, and those that you could trade looked awful.
Yet they made on of the coolest (fused) design and went for BLChests… That SUCKED big time.
It’s all about preferences. I didn’t likes Brahm and Rox items, but I saw many ppl having them ind it was cool. I would bought them if they would fit my characters for sure!
I could use some of Jade skins not to mention Fused, but Consortium skins sucked almost everyone I asked.
In the end they gave only those things that I and most of my friends consider ugly to be bought in gem store. This sucks…
I don’t know why doesn’t ANet look how many ppl have bought Primevail skin already. It looks great and I have it, they have my money, and its OK!!

I honestly think one should not get obsessed about event weapons, It happened to me for the fused weapons, which made me sell a lot of globs and spend all my money on BL chests, all I got was crap, I learned my lesson, never gamble for something.
Is currently emotionally unstable because Breaking Bad is over
Hi all,
I will also add to complain, because I opened something around 4-6000 chests and ticket nothing. To that I really like your featured drop comes.

Complains go all the way. I only hope someone in there is listening for them.
Adding my voice to yet another thread on this topic!
RNG rewards are fine, so long as they are not the only method for obtaining skins. Wintersday was great, as has been mentioned, I have no idea why that was shut down. Putting weapon skins and such in the gem store along with RNG would be fabulous.
As for RNG as a ‘goal’ for players to work for, it hardly works. I do not farm chests hoping to get tickets as my goal. I obtain all my chests just by playing the game normally, while grinding achievements or quests. My real goal is the dragon wings achievement reward. That is something that can be worked for, planned for, and actually achieved.
I got a weapon ticket in my first 30 chests. I did not feel like I accomplished anything at all. I just got lucky. A guildmate was upwards of 1000 and had nothing at all. Something to shoot for indeed…
A lot of people do farm chests. Look at all the complaints about not getting what they wanted. But I think you missed the point. Hoping to get something by collecting and opening chests as many people do, occupies time. Without that there is a gap created in what a player can do to occupy time.
that being said, I have no problem if the skin is available to be bought the next time the event comes around. This eliminates the problem and fulfills the desire. But maybe a-net chose to not go the wintersday route because they want the available skins to accumulate so that they don’t set a trend of instant gratification. Then there will only be more demand for MOAR!!! by the players. Whereas if they allow the skins to accumulate by not arbitrarily making them immediately available on hand, then there is still something to be gained even if you get all the new skins this time around.
I second this…READ MY SUGGESTION ARENA NET ! PLEASE!
I’ve probably spent about 120 (real life) dollars on the gem store not because I’m an idiot, but because I actually want to support Anet (after all, i am studying to become a video game designer… but i digress).
And I personally work long hours, and i barely have the time to do my daily achievements… I saw the dragon event stuff, and the first thing that came to mind was :
OMG i want those wings, i want that and i want that.
The second thing that came to mind: Holy crap 100 000 candies? 2000 chests opened and still no skin drop? I don’t have the time for that…
And thus i lost interest in the event altogether…
I know that pay-to-win is a no no in any MMO, but this isn’t pay to win ArenaNet… This is Pay-for-luxury.
What I would suggest is that DON’T sell them WHILE the even is going. Instead, sell them AFTER the event is done.
And even better, why not making it a combo? Say I managed to collect about 75% of a skin (say the dragon skins).
You make it so that AFTER the event, i can trade off everything that i have accumulated towards that skin or achievement, and purchase the missing difference in gems post-event.
That encourages me to do the event in order to save money, but ALSO relieves me that if the event ends while i havent finished yet, then my grinding time wouldn’t have been wasted (as has happened with many events before…) .
Instead , i can just pay what is owed/missing towards that achievement in gems AFTER the event is over…
Instead of having useless junk hoarded and stashed in my bank hoping that the event will be exactly the same next year so that they don’t go to waste…
I win because I can get the skin i wanted both ways, and arena net wins because they get money from gems AND customer satisfaction that they will never be screwed over by working hard in vain for an event that ended…
Thoughts?
