I know that an actual expansion is more then likely a bit far off but I would like to say a bit of what I would like to see in a new expansion. I would personally say that I do not want any new classes, at least not yet. I would rather Arenanet fully refines the current classes with more weapons and skills first. As for new races I think that I would be perfectly fine if they just add the Tengu for a start just because they were originally going to be added anyways. Now for the possible addition of the Tengu it would be pretty cool if they added some Asian themed weapons to the game such as a Katana or Nunchuks.

Katana: I know the game already has 2 sword types but I think that adding a Katana as a different weapon then a basic sword would both make sense and be cool. What makes a Katana different first off is how much stronger and sharper it is then a basic sword. Lets say you slash someone with a sword in the arm, not only are you gashing their arm but you probably also shattered their arm due to the brute force of the swing. When doing the same with a Katana it will generally cut cleanly through. Also a Katana requires a lot more finess due to being mostly a slashing weapon.

Nunchuks: Who can honestly say they don’t wanna make a theif and beat the living crap out of anything they come accross with Nunckuks.

Polearms: Anything from a quarterstaff to a spear or even a nagatina(may have spelt that wrong). Pole arms of any kind seem like they should have been in game from the start and would make an awesome addition to the game.

Greataxe: I know, not asian but would still be awesome to be a warrior and run around with a giant greataxe over your head saving Tyria.

Those are just a few weapons that I think would make awesome additions to the game. Now as a first expansion I personally would like Anet to just add the rest of Tyria including the last several Elder Dragons so we can move on and go to Elona which is still my favorite continent from the original and Cantha which we still don’t know if Bubbles if causing havoc there and even any other continent that was never seen in the orignal game. Now this is what I would like to see in the first expansion, now what do you want too see?

Guild Wars 1 was effectively killed by ArenaNet when they decided to add two new professions per chapter, plus 25 skills for each old profession.

The original GW had 6 professions, with more or less 75 skills each; that’s 450 skills.

Chapter 2 had 2 new professions with 75 skills each plus 25 new skills for each of the 6 old professions. The game now had 750 skills.

Chapter 3 had 2 new professions with 75 skills each plus 25 new skills for each of the old 8 professions. The game now had 1.050 skills, more than twice the original game.

Had ArenaNet released a chapter 4, it would have needed 2 new professions with 75 skills each plus 25 new skills for each of the old 10 professions. The game would have had 1.600 skills.

ArenaNet basically put themselves in a corner, given how they could never, ever, balance all those skills. This was 100% their fault – by chosing to add so many new skills and new professions per chapter, they showed a huge lack of long term planning; the fact they did so in order to make something “cool” in the short term (“more is always better, right?” – no) is no excuse. The result was having a lot of underpowered skills, which could then be ignored when balancing the game, as well as completely broken professions that had to be reworked in order to work.

They need, of course, to avoid this mistake in Guild Wars 2. They have to add few skills per expansion, and preferably add no new profession, or at most a single one, in order to avoid having more skills than they can balance. Considering how the currently available skills are not bug-fixed or balanced…

I would like to see if ArenaNet is now smart enough to not listen to the players screaming “We want more!” when they announce how many skills they will add per expansion. Players are not game designers, and there is a reason for that – most are pathologically unable to think on the long term and realize how something that they think is “cool” (such as “more and more skills, OMG!!!1111!!”) is actually detrimental to the game on the long term.

treadmill, of being in that obvious pattern of every time I catch up you are going to
put another carrot in front of me” – Mike O’Brien right before Ascended weapons

I would like to see the followings

Weapon: Lance, Whips

race: something new such as Elf ( somewhere between the height of human and asura)

Other: more weapon skins for lower level weapons, some more hairstyle for sylvari, human, and Norns. Also please give us a choice on how the character sounds, they need more variety than all population of a gender in the same race using the same voice. (by just saying I want a cute sound for my human female character)

mmmh …
Upon reflection, I’d like to see:

- Cantha

- Elona

- Just above the promontory divine.

- Additions of hairstyles for all races.

- Adding Armor A very different and rich inspired all possible modes. That means do not go that long coats, but also other kinds, corsets, jackets, or just worthy of a top assassin or a thief.

- The Tarnished Coast, and two maps Asura and Sylvari 80!

# Asura because I’m worth it!

I’m looking forward to new zones, no new races are needed at the moment.
Maybe in few months, maybe even year or so, when the game is balanced enough, we could get another melee class that uses heavy armor, any maybe some new skills.

I played GW1, and I definitely understood why ArenaNet made the skill changes they did with GW2.

The weapon skills are all based upon your weapon type and profession.

Thus you get a standard set of 5 skills for a two-hand weapon (or 3 and 2 for two one-hand weapons)

I could definitely see them possibly introducing a new weapon type (or possibly weapon sub-classes like elemental weapons… See: Elementalist-created weapons)

This makes it vastly easier for balance, as all attack skills are standardized. You can’t pick-and-choose to have Barrage along with short bow skills.

Thus, the possible skill combinations for each class is vastly lower than in GW1.

Then you get one healing skill, three utility skills, and one elite skill. Really the only skills that are open to choice.

I could likewise see a few of these get added. It’s probable that most people tend towards the more versatile skills.

Pretty much all rangers in the Fractals use healing spring.

There’s not much in the way of skill variation, which is kind of disappointing as a former GW1 player. I’d love to see a litte more… And I don’t think it would be too insanely hard to balance them.

Besides, the main issue with “balancing” is in terms of PvP (especially if they want that whole eSports thing). They’ve already split PvP and PvE in this game. Something they tried to avoid in GW1 (which led to many skills being worthless in PvE).

The classes still aren’t balanced. Some classes are better than others. (and thus favored in PvE groups)

ArenaNet should definitely fix that.

We could use a bit more diversity. I’d like to see more bows. Like maybe a recurve bow or have the ice bow actually become an equipable weapon type.

Spears as a short-ranged one-handed weapon might be nice for Warriors/Guardians as well. Oh, and scythes… I’d like to see those return.

Due to the way ArenaNet’s set it up, a little more diversity shouldn’t make a balancing nightmare.

You only really have 3 skill choices and then your weapon choice.

The choice for healing skills are very limited and some are vastly better than others (depending on the situation).

Same for Elite skills. I hate the summon elites, because of the downtime. I don’t think the summons really do all that much.

Similarly, a new class wouldn’t be any worse to balance than anything else. The biggest thing is coming up with an idea that would be enjoyable and different.

Nunchuks: Who can honestly say they don’t wanna make a theif and beat the living crap out of anything they come accross with Nunckuks.

The thing about these two weapons are that they can be used both one and two-handed and the weapon skills could change to reflect that. i.e. Wield a Katana with an off-hand and the skills would be slashing and parrying (offense) while wielding without an off-hand the skills would be more along the lines of hacking and blocking (defense?).

Likewise with the nunchuks one can wield one set as a two-handed weapon (switching between hands but you get the drift. ) and dual wield for an entirely different fighting style. I’d love to see what Anet could do with this.

Ive mentioned a few things on other threads but this one in convenient! So without further ado:

1) Raise the level cap to 100 but introduce a new way of leveling post 80. In my opinion its far too easy to level to 80 in GW2 let alone get another 20 levels. Players could do this within a day or two so id like to introduce a new way of leveling…maybe achievement based. There would be achievements introduced that would award a set amount of exp based on how hard the achievement is to complete. You could even add rewards for completing ‘sets’ of achievements such as a small amount of gems/gem shop items or items similar to what you get from map completion.

So in addition to creating a skill based method of leveling, you would get rewarded for progressing and would give those that enjoy ‘collecting’ more of a reason to play as theyd want to complete all the achievements (youd only need 50/60/70% of the achievements to reach 100).

2) More Legendaries. Lots more Legendaries! The main reason why ive not already got one isnt the material cost, its the fact non of the designs fit with my main character’s looks. My alt could do with the Frostfang and Rodgort but theyd be wasted on a character I hardly use.

3) New zones utilising new methods of exploration. Id love some sort of cave system with traps and puzzles that unlock further areas.

4) More personal story, but I think thats a given.

5) New world bosses with new mechanics to make them challenging.

6) All world bosses and dungeon bosses have their own armour and weapon sets which you can acquire by collecting tokens. Id love to see a corrupted armour set!

7) A ‘scavenger hunt’ style weekly achievement that involves doing certain quests in order to gain rewards such as recipes, exotics and a key that gets you into a special dungeon.

8) New skills, specifically new and interesting elites.

9)New weapon types such as the battleaxe, polearm and chakrams.

10) A use for the personality system! What use is there in making choices if they have no impact upon the world?

11) Ability to customise the look of weapons and further customise the look of armour. Maybe add jewels? Also the ability to see your accessories on your character but with the ability to hide.

12) A use for the crafting system!!! New rare recipes to make armour and weapons with unique skins, quests that utilise crafting maybe?

Anymore….i’ll make another post! Thats enough for now :p

Ritualist would be worst class ever, if i miss some classes at all… that one was paragon, they never really shined but the idea was just awesome.. i liked idea of shield and spear, since this weapons were very common in history. Actually i don’t miss any class, but if we get anything i would definitely enjoy the new way of paragon.

I only expect fixes nothing more, nothing less. I wouldn’t mind playing this game as it is for another 3 months if we would be better atmosphere like weather improvement, dragon system rebuild, lvl 80 events in lowbie areas. Dailies in our own starting lands, and such. I just want to get core game GW2 stronger. Because we are not ready yet for upgrades, we need to fix current problems, adding new one would just rip us.

Wish I could get back to GW1.. PvP-GvG. It feels like we are outcasted, not desired or rewarded..
