FIX the CAMERA blocking. Or, give us a toggle.
PLease and please again.
What happened to the GW1 camera.
Trying to do jumping puzzles is horrible like for example jumping up that well in the eternal battlegrounds jumping puzzle. The camera is baaaad.
Need a first person view to for tiny corridors like the water pipes near beetleton (sp?).
Baldur’s gate camera was better. :P
Baldur’s gate camera was better. :P
Yeah, and I like the Skyrim camera, why didn’t Anet use that one!? (I’m being facetious btw, lol)
Anyway, I agree the camera has issues. They would need to somehow change the way it detects line of sight collision with the player model. I’m not a programmer so I don’t know if it’s even possible without a complete overhaul.
Oh hey look it’s a first person camera! With really bad FoV!

The camera is the single worst aspect of the UI because of these collisions it perceives. The worst ones are where it continually zooms in and out because the camera can’t find a sweet spot to stay put. It’s awful.
And PLEASE give back first person PoV, even if it’s only out-of-combat. I’m a screenshot addict, but that doesn’t mean I want my character in all of them.
Camera collision is one of the most annoying things the camera does.
Anyone who doesn’t believe that, go and try to do Troll’s End puzzle with a tall character.
Yes please fix this, sometimes I can look through objects, and sometimes I can’t. Or it’ll be a really tiny little ledge ruining everything for me.
Agree, the way the camera moves in and ruins the view and your ability to judge where you are as close to a game breaker as you can get.

I posted about this elsewhere, but for me, the camera is at the moment the one thing that ruins my immersion in the game – and the ability to enjoy the environment – the most.
The way it bobs back and forth on geometry, is positioned behind/under a character, can’t zoom into first person PoV. Particularly in small spaces it’s very problematic.
There was a particular time yesterday where I came across a beautiful ocean vista and wanted to get a nice screeny. Couldn’t, due to the above issues.
I believe (hope!) ANET will address some of these issues as they have already addressed one camera issue. Hopefully they are working on a new camera system that will iron out some of these wide-spread annoyances.
Then we can enjoy the amazing environment and all it’s fantastic artwork in its full glory.
+1 to everything mentioned here. The topic on FoV (field on view) there was mention that they are working on fixing the camera. Regardless, i’m still innately curious as to the actual direction of the fix they mention.
I don’t want to beat a dead horse, but if they don’t take the collision mechanics out of the camera, i just can’t see an alternative solution that would make any of the platforming aspects fun at all. I don’t think I personally would be happy with them just adding first person view…
I’ll definitely sign for this. Nothing ruins my jump quests more than a bad camera angle forced by camera collision/blocking/whatever
Add first person camera option
Yes please let us disable this “feature”.
Is there no workaround available?
